Wiscasset voters rejected the Wiscasset Board of Selectmen’s proposal to repeal the historic preservation ordinance, 536-437, on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7.
Preservation Commission OKs Plan for Former Newspaper Office
The Wiscasset Historic Preservation Commission approved a certificate of appropriateness for the conversion of part of the former Wiscasset Newspaper office, at 47 Gardiner Road, into an office and water laboratory. The rest of the building could become an apartment or another office.

Whitefield Elementary Gives Local WWII Vet an Emotional Send-Off
World War II veteran Donald Gould, of Whitefield, with about 45-50 other veterans, departed on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. the morning of Friday, Oct. 27. The day before, Whitefield Elementary School students and staff surprised the U.S. Army vet with a special assembly to honor his service.
Maine Yankee Panel Continues Work Toward Fuel Removal

Wiscasset Selectmen Vote to Oppose Removal of Existing Parking
The Wiscasset Board of Selectmen voted 3-2 to oppose the removal of parking spaces in Wiscasset on Tuesday, Oct. 3. The selectmen also voted 5-0 to request a meeting with Gov. Paul LePage and Maine Commissioner of Transportation David Bernhardt to discuss the removal of storefront parking in Wiscasset as part of the Maine Department of Transportation’s downtown traffic project.

Two Bridges Regional Jail Names New Administrator
After a 2 1/2-month hiring process, the Lincoln and Sagadahoc Multicounty Jail Authority Board of Directors hired James Bailey as the new jail administrator. Bailey has been serving as interim administrator since last October.
POW/MIA Memorial to Include Names of Six from Lincoln County

Wiscasset Math Teacher Retires After 40 Years
Tim Flanagan, of Wiscasset, has retired after 46 years as a teacher and 40 years at Wiscasset High School, now Wiscasset Middle High School.
