There are few people in Wiscasset who don’t know or haven’t at least heard about Tim Merry, a man who has worn many hats in his 58 years of life so far, mostly in Wiscasset. He is a veteran, Wiscasset’s former fire chief, a former selectman, and a volunteer firefighter. He recently retired from the Bath Fire Department after more than 30 years and is planning to take a few months off before embarking on the next journey in his life.

Dollar General hopes to begin construction of a new store at 320 Bath Road in Wiscasset in the spring of 2018 with a goal to open in late fall.

Wiscasset voters rejected the Wiscasset Board of Selectmen’s proposal to repeal the historic preservation ordinance, 536-437, on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7.

As of last month, the Wiscasset veterans monument contains the names of 10 more veterans, from the Vietnam War to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. 

The Maine Yankee Community Advisory Panel on Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage and Removal received updates on the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation in Wiscasset and the prospects for removal, as well as a state inspector’s update, during its annual meeting at the Wiscasset Community Center on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

Lincoln County’s draft 2018 budget totals $11,546,877, an increase of $195,031 or 1.72 percent from the 2017 budget.
