The Wiscasset Middle High School high school cheering team will be presented with the State of Maine Class D Sportsmanship Award at the State Class D cheering championships, on Sat., Feb 8 at the State cheering completion at the Augusta Civic Center.
Regional Wrestling and State Cheering to Start at Later Times
Class A and D cheering, originally scheduled to start at 10 a.m. on Sat., Feb. 8, is now scheduled to start at 6 p.m. The Class B and C championships start at 2 p.m. State cheering will be held at the Augusta Civic Center.

Medomak Valley girls basketball team defended their home court for a 53-51 win over Gardiner on Feb. 4. The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the first quarter and extended it to nine in the second frame, before Gardiner rallied with a 14-4 run to take the lead.

Lady Mariners Nip Eagles Oceanside 64 - Lincoln 48
A shorthanded Lincoln Academy girls basketball team lost to Oceanside 64-48 on Jan. 31 in the Mariners harbor. The good news for the Lady Eagles was getting Payson Kaler back in the line-up, but Lincoln had four players go out with injuries in the game, bringing the total on their disabled list to six.
