Paula’s Picnic Picks Wright Landing (Ferry Landing), Westport Island

The 2.3-acre site was the landing site for a ferry between Wiscasset and Westport Island that was used before the bridge was constructed. The town purchased the property in 2004 from the Wright family. Grants from Land for Maine’s Future and other state agencies helped with the cost of acquisition and site improvements. The town’s Wright Landing Committee maintains the property.

Community and Speedway Family Come Out Strong for Birthday Celebration

D.J. Thompson, of Jefferson, was turning 13 on Friday, April 24, and his mother, Laura, wanted to do something special to help him celebrate in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. His father, Dave, had passed away March 18 from complications from two strokes, so his mother knew this would be a particularly hard time for her son.

Student Becomes Teacher on Castner Creek

University of Maine forestry graduate student Noah Begin, of Damariscotta, has come full circle. Born in a former church in Damariscotta Mills, Nobleboro, Begin grew up in Damariscotta. He attended camps and classes through the Damariscotta River Association, now Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust. He hiked at Dodge Point and DRA properties up and down the peninsula.

On the Trail in Lincoln County MVLT Founders Preserve, Waldoboro

MVLT Founders Preserve consists of 107 acres and has some of the hilliest terrain found in Lincoln County. Combined with the 320-acre Quarry Hill Preserve, owned by the Town of Waldoboro, it forms a wildlife corridor of more than 400 acres that supports an abundance of species with its diverse habitat.
