The Maine Community Foundation has awarded the Old Bristol Historical Society an $8,000 grant for the exterior renovation of the south wall of the mill at Pemaquid Falls. The grant is made from the Belvedere Historical Preservation Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.

One2One Care at The Lincoln Home has added two new services to help seniors stay safely at home. One2One caregivers will help with meal planning and preparation, and now will offer delivery of fresh, locally sourced meals prepared by the culinary team at Lincoln Home. A number of options give seniors flexibility to order frozen meals, a la carte or package deals depending on their individual needs.

Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry’s Maine Forest Service announced Ranger Scott Maddox has accepted the District Forest Ranger position in the Damariscotta District. Maddox assumed his new role on Sept. 4.

Twenty-five students from 15 universities nationwide presented their summer marine research at the sixth annual Science for Economic Impact and Application Fellows Symposium, held this year at the Downeast Institute in Beals.

The fun frolic of the favorite festival of Maine’s Midcoast is forthcoming, as Damariscotta Pumpkinfest and Regatta is back in full regalia Oct. 7-9.

The Nobleboro Historical Society’s AppleFest is back after a two-year pause due to COVID-19 and will be on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Nobleboro Central School and the Historical Center. The money raised is for the $1,000 scholarships the historical society offers and to support the society as a resource of Nobleboro history.

The grounds of Lincoln County Historical Association’s Chapman-Hall House museum in Damariscotta will be the site of an archaeological investigation during the first two weeks of September.

The eastern monarch butterfly is certainly one of the most easily recognized butterflies in Maine. For many of us, this remarkable creature’s story of its annual migration to Mexico each fall is, in itself, phenomenal. For pretty much all of us, watching a monarch flutter among the summer flowers is a beautiful sight.

The Damariscotta-Newcastle Lions Club is pleased to announce that Emily Kelsey, of Bristol, has been named the recipient of 2022 Arthur Doe Scholarship in the amount of $1500. To be eligible, one must have already completed at least one semester at a post high school institution majoring in a health field.

CHIP Inc.’s Community Cares Day 2022 is Saturday, Sept. 10. Organizers hope to have 10 or more teams working to help their neighbors stay safe, warm, and dry in their homes. While skilled leaders are particularly important to make this day possible, there are jobs available for every skill level.

The drawing for the 2022 Fish Ladder Quilt Raffle will take place on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5. Tickets are still available at Skidompha Library in Damariscotta, where the quilt is on display.
