It is time to ‘spring’ the clocks ahead on Sunday, March 14, 2 a.m. We return to Standard Time on the first Sunday of November.

Bristol Records to Go from Attic into Vault

Valuation and commitment books containing lists of taxpayers and the amount of tax assessed are some of the town records that will move from the unheated attic of the Bristol town hall to a new home in a temperature and humidity-controlled archival vault being built at the Bristol History Center.

Food Pantries

Alna  

The Alna Food Pantry is in the basement of the Alna town office, 1574 Alna Road. The pantry is open from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, and 2-6 p.m. Thursday. The pantry allows one visit per week. Area residents are welcome.

First Pumpkinfest Meeting March 18

All are welcome to the first planning meeting on March 18 for this year’s Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta. The meeting is from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Central Lincoln County YMCA’s meeting room at 525 Main St. in Damariscotta. Masks and social distancing will be required.

Local Man Makes History — 400 Years Ago

On March 16, we will celebrate the 400th anniversary of an event that most Mainers know only vaguely from an elementary school history lesson. The occasion is worth remembering not only because it was an important moment in history, but also because at its root were issues similar to what we are facing today — the pandemic and racial inequity.

LincolnHealth Offering Free CNA Class

at

LincolnHealth is accepting applications for the spring Certified Nursing Assistant class until March 26. The 10-week training begins April 20 and runs until June 24. The class is offered at no cost to the student, and accepted students can apply to earn while they learn through LincolnHealth’s apprenticeship program.

Trout Stocking Sale

Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District is once again sponsoring an annual trout stocking sale for home or farm ponds. Two sizes are available, 4-6” rainbow trout and 7-9” brook trout, as well as oxygen bags that hold up to 50 fish. Minimum order is $50.

Backyard Composting and Rain Barrel Sale

Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District, in cooperation with Maine Resource and Recovery Association, is offering local residents the opportunity to improve soil and conserve water at deeply discounted prices with a new sale.

Ice Palace Opens in Boothbay

at

Food Trucks A-Go in Boothbay has built the first ice palace in Maine made from running water that has been frozen into a giant castle. Eighty to 100 years ago there were a few ice castles in Maine, but they were made from blocks of ice. The Boothbay Ice Palace is complete with hallways and a grand staircase to the roof.
