Due to the icy driving conditions anticipated on Friday, Feb. 7, the annual Haiti Benefit Dinner has been postponed until Friday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 380 Academy Hill Road, Newcastle.

The Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta recently announced that its CEO, Meagan Hamblett, has been hired as the executive director for the YMCA Alliances of Maine and New Hampshire/Vermont. Hamblett’s last day at the CLC YMCA is Friday, Jan. 31.

Coastal Rivers’ Nature Center a Hub for Outdoor Exploration

Since Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust relocated its headquarters to Round Top Farm in Damariscotta last April, the farmhouse at Salt Bay Farm on Belvedere Road has become a dedicated nature center and a hub for outdoor education. The building will be open to the public at certain times through the winter.

Last week’s cold snap covered many lakes and ponds in ice, but with the warming temperatures this week, the Maine Warden Service is urging people to use caution before venturing out onto any ice covering Maine’s waterways.

Local YMCAs Announce Joint Winter I Program Guide

On Dec. 16, the Central Lincoln County YMCA and the Boothbay Region YMCA opened registration for its first-ever joint program guide for the Winter I session. The session runs Jan. 6 to Feb. 29.
