A memorial service for Ernest “Tommy” Thompson, who passed away at his home on Christmas morning, will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home in Damariscotta. He will be laid to rest following the service at the Chamberlain Cemetery in Round Pond.

Mary S. Feyler, 102, of Nobleboro, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023, at home with her family by her side. Mary was born on Jan. 8, 1921, in Nobleboro, the daughter of Winfield Winslow and Grace (Cunningham) Winslow.

Rebecca Marie Malone, 91, of Damariscotta, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 27, 2023 at Cove’s Edge following a brief illness.

Richard Bartley of Damariscotta died on May 29, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born in Amesbury, Mass., the son of the late Mary A. (Shaughnessy) and Louis J. Bartley. Richard leaves his wife, Sally; children, Rick, Stephanie, and Lucy; grandchildren, Patrick, Nathaniel, Margaret, Wyatt, and Sarah; siblings, Mary Louise, Margaret (Peggy) Roche, and Paul; and many nieces and nephews. His brothers, Daniel, Reverend David, and James predeceased him.

Rosetta Burns, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away at home in Alna, surrounded by her family on the afternoon of June 2, 2023.

Deborah S. Reynolds, 69, of Waldoboro passed away June 3, 2023, in Rockport at the Sussman House.

Elaine was born in Dunkirk, N.Y., the daughter of Eugene and Maryl (Greenman) Bremer. She grew up western New York, having spent her youth in Fredonia, West Seneca, and Clarence, N.Y. She graduated from Clarence High School and Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y. She earned her master’s degrees in education and in humanities with a concentration in music history from the University at Buffalo.

Gorden Edwin Simmons Sr., 81, of Friendship, passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly, at his home on Memorial Day, May 29, 2023, following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.

Sherburne Prescott de Garmo, of Boothbay, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2023 at Maine Medical Center. He was a renaissance man of many talents, a woodworker, artist, mechanic, and sculptor who enjoyed creating beautiful and functional pieces for his home.

Elise Isabel Andersen, lifelong resident of Boothbay, died unexpectedly at her home May 4. She was 68. Elise was born Feb. 19, 1955 at St. Andrews Hospital in Boothbay Harbor, the fourth of six children born to Weston and Brenda Andersen, the pioneering Maine craftspeople who founded Andersen Design and Studio.
