Arrolyn Gilbert, 93, of New Harbor, passed away peacefully on the morning of Dec. 30, 2019 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta. Born on April 14, 1926 in South Bristol, she was the daughter of Walter and Marian Thompson.

Astrophotographer Mike Taylor to Present Slide Show Jan. 11

The Friends of the Waldoboro Public Library and the Waldoboro Public Library are pleased to present astrophotographer Mike Taylor to start the 2020 speaker series. The presentation will take place Saturday, Jan. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the Waldoboro Public Library. Taylor’s slide show and presentation includes stunning photographs of the night sky, and he will be discussing his work in detail.

Maine Warden Service Urges Caution Before Heading Out On Ice

Last week’s cold snap covered many lakes and ponds in ice, but with the warming temperatures this week, the Maine Warden Service is urging people to use caution before venturing out onto any ice covering Maine’s waterways.

Corrinna Farrell, 48, died peacefully at Maine Medical Center in Portland on Dec. 29, 2019. A memorial service to celebrate Corrinna’s life will be held at a later date to be announced in the spring.

Evelyn Elford Webster Jan. 27, 1938 - Dec. 30, 2019

Evelyn Elford Webster died peacefully on the morning of Dec. 30, 2019. She was born on Jan. 27, 1938 in Detroit, Mich. She was the youngest child of Fred G. Elford and Nina (Burton) Elford, both originally from Fortune, Newfoundland, Canada.

Waldoboro Wanderings ’Tis the season -- December 1874

Early December in Waldoboro 145 years ago saw a prosperous, exciting village enjoying the advent of winter and the Christmas season. There was a great deal to be proud of and to look forward to, according to the pages of the newly instituted local paper, The Lincoln County News.
