Verna S. Bean, “Grandma,” 89, passed away with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at The Sussman House in Rockport, after a period of declining health. Verna was born in Whitefield on Jan. 30, 1933 to parents Alford and Ruth Moody Wiley.

The benefits of keeping backyard chickens are obvious. From fresh eggs to a newfound pet, chickens are highly entertaining and engaging creatures. I would know. I currently have eight.

Employees of First National Bank recently raised $932.03 for Veggies to Table through its Casual for a Cause program. Employees make a contribution to a nominated nonprofit organization in exchange for dressing casually on Fridays for one month.

Dorothy Edna Sprague

Dorothy Edna Sprague would have been 95 on Aug. 5, 2022. She was born on Aug. 5, 1927 to a loving couple, Albert G. Shuman and Hazel (Heyer) Shuman of Waldoboro. She was the oldest of four children.

Albert William ‘Al’ Lindholm III April 11, 1961 - July 6, 2022

Albert William “Al” Lindholm III, age 61, of Bristol, passed away suddenly at home on the evening of Wednesday, July 6, 2022. Al was born on April 11, 1961, in Glen Ridge, N.J., the third of four children born to Albert William Jr. and Myrna A. (Morrill) Lindholm.

Newcastle History Trinket Joe Leighton

Newcastle has been blessed with pictures. Besides the many thousands of photos taken by Ivan Flye and the old pictures of the area he bought at his Pictorial Studio in center Newcastle from about 1945 to 1985 there are the more than 3000 glass negatives of this area that were taken by E. Joseph Leighton between 1900 and 1930.
