Mt. Abram jumped out to a 30-3 lead over Boothbay at the end of the first quarter and coasted to a 89-36 win on Tuesday, Feb. 6 in Boothbay. The Roadrunners lived up to their mascot name by playing a run-and-gun style that quickly left Boothbay in the dust. Boothbay trailed 50-10 at the half before regrouping and generating some offense in the second half. Finn Harkins led the Seahawks with 13 points and Luke Morley chipped in 11. Payton Mitchell led the Roadrunners with 25 points. The Seahawks fell to 5-12 on the season, but despite the loss remained alive in the hunt for a playoff spot.
Panthers Boys Dominate Erskine Medomak Valley 79 - Erskine Academy 31
Gabe Lash had 24 points and 14 rebounds and Kory Donlin had 18 points to lead the Medomak Valley boys to a 79-31 win over Erskine on Friday, Feb. 2 in South China. The Panthers improved to 14-3 on the season. Kristian Schumann had 5 assists and Luke Cheesman had 6 steals to lead the Panthers in those categories.
Lincoln Girls Pull Away from Leavitt Eagles win 55-48 on the road
The Lincoln Academy girls basketball team improved their playoff position with a 55-48 win over Leavitt on Friday, Feb. 2 in Turner. Mariam Delisle scored 24 points to lead the Eagles, and Olivia Ball chipped in 9. The Eagles improved to 9-7 on the season and occupy 9th place in the Class B South Heal Point standings.
Hagar Surpasses 1,000 Point Milestone for Eagles Eagles sting hornets 77-28
Gabe Hagar scored his 1,000th career point on a short jump shot in the Eagles’ 77-28 win over Leavitt on Friday, Feb. 2 in the Eagles nest. The senior scored 22 points in the game to lift the Eagles to a 13-3 record as they approach the Class B South playoffs. A ceremony was held by Lincoln Academy to recognize the achievement, and the Leavitt team showed good sportsmanship by congratulating Hagar, too.
Eagles Dig Their Claws Into the Lions Lincoln Academy 85 - Belfast 33
The Lincoln Academy boys basketball team built off the momentum they earned in an historic win over Medomak Valley last weekend by dominating Belfast 85-33 on Thursday, Feb. 1 in the Eagles nest. Gabe Hagar scored 21 points to drive closer to the 1,000 point milestone he’s approaching as the Eagles (12-3) head nearer to playoff time playing an up-tempo style of basketball.
After raining shots into the basket against the Lions, Hagar now has 989 points in his career for the Eagles. Andrew Haas led the Lions with 11 points. The Lions are winless (0-16) on the season. The Eagles defense had 34 steals in the game, led by Lucas Houghton with 8 as the Eagles controlled the ball in the lopsided match.
Lincoln Academy Beats Medomak Valley For First Time in a Decade Defense Was Key in Gritty 54-42 Victory
The Lincoln Academy boys basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter to beat Medomak Valley 54-42 on Tuesday, Jan. 30 in the Panthers’ den. It’s the first time the Eagles have defeated Medomak Valley since a 48-46 victory on Jan. 17, 2014.
Forest Hills Beats Wolverines 65-35
The Forest Hills boys basketball team played an aggressive style of hoops while defeating the Wolverines 65-35 on Monday, Jan. 29 in Wiscasset. Spencer Pinkham and Landin Shirey led the Wolverines (8-8) with ten points apiece. Cooper Daigle scored 24 points to lead the Tigers, who improved to 11-5 on the season.
Lincoln Academy Girls Lose 38-35 at MCI
The Eagles’ girls basketball team lost to MCI 38-35 on Saturday, Jan. 27 in Pittsfield. It was a close game all the way but the Eagles could never quite extend and hold a lead in the game. Lincoln Academy trailed 16-15 at the end of the half, and then rallied for a 26-25 lead heading into the final quarter in the low scoring game. Mariam DeLisle scored 22 points to lead Lincoln Academy. Kayleigh Dunton tallied 14 to lead the MCI offense.
Medomak Valley Girls Lose to Oceanside in 7th Annual Paws for the Cause Pink Out Game
The Panthers girls pounced to an early 21-18 lead before it slipped away in a 49-40 loss to undefeated Oceanside on Saturday, Jan. 27 in the Panthers den.
The seventh annual Paws for the Cause pink out game was the opener of a boys and girls doubleheader against rival Oceanside. Players wore pink uniforms and many fans dressed in pink to pay homage to people in their lives affected by cancer. Proceeds from the game and associated fundraiser will benefit Lincoln Health’s breast care program.
Sara Nelson and Kytana Williamson led the Panthers (11-4) with 13 points apiece, and Bailey Breen was the top scorer for Oceanside (14-0) with 14.
Oceanside Boys Rally Past Panthers to Remain Undefeated
The Medomak Valley (13-2) boys basketball team built a 9 point lead in the first half but couldn’t hold on as Oceanside (14-0) rallied down the stretch to stay undefeated with a 57-47 win on Saturday, Jan. 27 in Waldoboro. Kory Donlin and Gabe Lash each scored 11 points to lead Medomak. Donlin also grabbed 14 rebounds and Lash had 9 to help keep the high-octane Mariners offense in check for most of the game. Zeb Foster led Oceanside with 22 points.
Nathan Gess Earns 100th Career Wrestling Win for Medomak Valley
Medomak Valley High School wrestler Nathan Gess earned his 100th win before a cheering home crowd on Wednesday, Jan. 24 in Waldoboro. Wrestling in the 285 weight class, Gess pinned Eric Richmond of Lincoln Academy to reach the coveted wrestling milestone. Fans in attendance flashed 100 signs while cheering for the senior wrestler, who has also been a standout football player for the Panthers.
Adam St. Cyr Achieves 100 Win Wrestling Milestone for Eagles
Adam St. Cyr pinned Medomak Valley’s Nathan Legere to win the 100th match of his Lincoln Academy career on Wednesday, Jan. 24 in Waldoboro. St. Cyr accomplished the feat in just his junior year, and joined teammate Jayden Lafrenaye on the Eagles’ wrestling honor roll.
Oceanside Boys Stay Undefeated With High-Scoring Win Over Eagles
The Galley twins combined for 51 points to lead Oceanside to an explosive 95-68 win over Lincoln Academy on Friday, Jan. 12 in the Eagles’ nest. Gabe Hagar led Lincoln Academy with 22 points, and Lucas Houghton scored 12 as the Eagles tried to keep pace with the speedy Mariners.
LA Grad Taking Her Basketball Skills To The Next Level
Lincoln Academy basketball fans will be glad to hear that one of their own from the class of 2021 has been achieving great success at the college level. Maddy York scored 29 points to boost the Southern Maine Community College Seawolves to a dramatic 68-63 overtime win on Saturday, Jan. 6 in South Portland.
