Shawn St. Cyr is returning to Lincoln Academy to coach wrestling. He has been involved with the Eagle wrestling program off and on for a number of years. In the past he has served as head coach, assistant coach and volunteer assistant coach. Most recently he has coached the Maine Trappers and USA Wrestling Maine East out of his facility in Somerville.
Coach Applebee Heads Up Wiscasset Girls
Robert ‘Radar’ Applebee is the new head girls basketball coach at Wiscasset high school. Wiscasset did not field a basketball team in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 outbreak, but did offer after school skills development.
New Wiscasset Coach in for the Long Haul
New Wiscasset high school varsity boys coach Rick Larrabee said he is on board for the long haul. He and new girls varsity coach Robert ‘Radar’ Applebee are both planning to work with young athletes at the recreation and middle school level to develop their skills to build their programs. They plan to involve the high school athletes in developing the skills of the younger kids.
No Need to Go on a Wild Goose Chase: Perfect Christmas Goose is Available Locally
A quest for a locally-sourced Christmas goose ended at Black Earth Forest Farm in Newcastle. The farm raises 600 meat ducks, 50 Embden geese, and has 250 laying ducks. The farm sells its products from Rockland to Portland. Locally, the meat ducks are available at Sheepscot General in Whitefield, Riverside Butcher in Damariscotta, and coming soon to Rising Tide in Damariscotta.
Jed Harris Heads Up Medomak Wrestling
Jed Harris will head up Medomak Valley wrestling this season. Harris is no stranger to wrestling at Medomak, having co-coached the varsity with Billy Bramhall for the past 12 years. He also coached at Medomak Middle School for two years and has coached at the Medomak Pee Wee level for 13 years.
Maine Principals’ Association Winter Sports Guidelines MPA releases winter sports guidelines
As we head into the 2021-2022 winter season the Maine Principals’ Association (MPA), the Maine School Superintendents Association (MSSA), the Maine Athletic Administrators Association, the Maine Music Educators Association, the Maine School Boards Association, and the Maine Athletic Trainers Association offer the following recommendations for school-based extracurricular activities. All agencies agree that education-based activities, including music and performing arts programs, support students with their social, emotional, physical, and mental health and they play a key role in the community. We will continue to seek the safest ways to make activities available for young people across the state.
Daigle Just Misses All New England Status
Medomak Valley senior Connor Daigle placed 26th at the New England Interscholastic Cross Country Championships, held Nov. 13 in Thetford, Vt. Daigle finished in 17:12, just three seconds shy of making the All New England cut.
Medomak Valley Girls Winter Youth Basketball Program Clinic November 20
Medomak will hold a girls youth basketball program this year, beginning Saturday, Nov. 20 and ending Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022. The program is open to girls in grades 3-6 in the RSU 40 School District.
Medomak Valley Youth Boys Basketball Grades 3-6
On Saturday, Nov. 20 there will be a youth boys basketball clinic for grades 3 and 4 at Medomak Middle School from 9 to 10:30 a.m. On Saturday, Nov. 20 there will be a youth boys basketball clinic for grades 5 and 6 at Medomak Valley High School from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Hermon Clips Panthers to Advance to Regional Final Hermon 16 - Medomak 12
Hermon upset top seed Medomak Valley 16-12 in a North C semi-final match on Nov. 6 in Bath. The Hawks jumped out to a 16-0 first half lead. Johnny Kokoska ran for the first touchdown. Hermon scored with two seconds left in the half, after the Panthers stopped them with goal line stands on second and third down. On the fourth down, Gary Glidden scored on a one yard run for the Hawks.

Medomak Valley High School senior Connor Daigle won the State Class B Cross Country Championship in a muddy affair on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast.
Seacoast Christian clips Rams for MCSSL championship Seacoast 4 - Coastal 3
Seacoast Christian School, from South Berwick, defeated Coastal Christian School 4-3 to win the 2021 Maine Christian School Sports League championship. Top Seed Medomak Sends Nokomis Packing Football playoff
Top seed Medomak Valley football team sent #8 Nokomis packing in the first round of the playoffs on Oct. 30 in a muddy affair in Waldoboro. The Panthers won 14-6.
