MVLT Founders Preserve consists of 107 acres and has some of the hilliest terrain found in Lincoln County. Combined with the 320-acre Quarry Hill Preserve, owned by the Town of Waldoboro, it forms a wildlife corridor of more than 400 acres that supports an abundance of species with its diverse habitat.
Wiscasset Community Center Closing at Noon on March 16
The Wiscasset Community Center will be closing at noon on Monday, March 16 due to the coronavirus threat. Because they are a town run facility, the decision was made by town manager John O’Connell early on March 16.
CLC YMCA and Boothbay Region YMCA to Close Monday, March 16
The CLC YMCA announced on their website on Monday, March 16 that they will closing down. They currently plan to re-open on Sunday, March 29.
Spring Pre-Season Postponed Jr. high wrestling season cancelled, state gymnastics canceled, travel team tournaments canceled
The spring sports preseason has been postponed by the Maine Prinicpals’ Association until April 27, 2020. The first day of practice is currently scheduled for April 27. The Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference is meeting the first of next week to discuss the spring season.
I.J. Pinkham Hanging Up His Varsity Hat, But Not Stepping Away From The Game
Legendary Boothbay Region boys basketball coach I.J. Pinkham is hanging up his varsity coaching hat after 49 years. “I am not applying for the coaching job next year. I am done with varsity,” Pinkham said. While retiring as varsity coach, Pinkham is not stepping away from the game he loves. “I might volunteer,” he said.
Medomak Sophomore Goes From ‘Rags to Riches’ on Basketball Court
Dec. 21, 2017 is a day that stands out in Medomak Valley sophomore point guard Patrick McKenney’s memory. It was a day when the seemingly healthy 13-year-old Great Salt Bay Community School eighth grader was brought face to the face with the reality that he might never be able to play basketball, the game he loves, again.

Lincoln Academy’s coed Unified basketball team hosted Medomak Valley for LA’s second home game of the season on Monday, Feb. 24. The atmosphere was light and the crowd enthusiastic to celebrate the Eagle athletes in their first season. Medomak Valley is in its second year with the Unified program and Maine in its sixth.
Panther Wrestler Benner Takes First in the New England Qualifier
Medomak Valley’s 195 pound senior wrestler Erik Benner placed first at the New England Qualifier held on Feb. 28 at Noble High School. Panther teammates Tyler Cox (170) and Jake Gess (220) placed fourth.

Winthrop Clips the Lady Seahawks, Advances to State C Finals Winthrop 38 - Boothbay 34
Winthrop girls basketball team defeated Boothbay Region 38-34 in the South Class C regional championship game on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Augusta Civic Center. The game came down to the wire, with Boothbay having 38 seconds to tie the game up. Multiple Seahawks shots failed to fall, and Winthrop’s Lydia Rice came away with the rebound with two seconds to play. Rice was fouled and made both shots for a four point Rambler win.

The Wiscasset boys basketball team will receive the South Class C Good Sportsmanship Award on Sat., Feb. 29 at the Augusta Civic Center, before the State Class C girls finals around 7 p.m.
Boothbay Girls Advance to Regional Finals Boothbay 46 - Traip 32
Boothbay Region girls basketball team defeated Traip Academy 46-32 on Feb. 20 at the Augusta Civic Center in a South Class C semi-final match-up. With the win the Lady Seahawks advance to the South C Regional championship game against Winthrop, to be played on Sat. Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. in Augusta. Boothbay defeated Winthrop twice during the regular season and lost to them in the Mt. Valley Conference championship, setting up a re-match for a chance to play for a gold ball.
Waynflete Grounds the Seahawks Waynflete 53 - Boothbay 41
Waynflete defeated Boothbay boys basketball 53-41 in a South Class C Regional match-up at the Augusta Civic Center on Feb. 20. With the win, the Flyers advance to the Regional championship game.
Rams Hustle Past Panthers Cony 77 - Medomak 52
Cony defeated Medomak Valley 77-52 in a North Class A semi-final game on Feb. 29 at the Augusta Civic Center.
