For the second year in a row, Round Pond children and grownups gathered around the harbor at 6 p.m. on Nov. 26, the Friday after Thanksgiving, in hopes of glimpsing the mysterious Christmas Ship. Local legend says that Christmas Ships often visit ports where folks are known to be kind.

The American Legion Auxiliary in Waldoboro will be having a veterans wreath sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at the corner of Depot Street and Route 1 in Waldoboro.

Individuals may pick up a free take-out Thanksgiving dinner at Lincoln County Assembly of God, 672 Main St., Damariscotta. Each dinner will have roasted turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, squash, cranberry sauce, and apple or pumpkin pie.

If you are in need of a Thanksgiving basket, please call the Food Security Hotline at 563-6658 and leave a message with your contact information, and the number of people in your household.

The Alna Food Pantry is located on the back lower level of the town office, 1574 Alna Road. It is open Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 to 5 p.m.  All area residents are welcome, no questions asked.

The basement of Calvary Baptist Church at 150 Grand Army Road in Whitefield is the new home for the Whitefield Food Pantry.

All are welcome to join Sunday services at 9:30 a.m., in person.  Outside, weather permitting, masks optional; otherwise inside masked. “The speaker at the service Sunday, Nov. 14 will be Casey Clark Kelly, CEO of the Central Lincoln County YMCA.”

The Damariscotta Historical Society’s 2022 calendar is available, featuring 13 historical pictures. This year’s images include the first snowmobile in Damariscotta from around 1920. Dr. Robert Belknap drove it around in the winter to see patients.
