Library Offers ‘Let’s Talk About It’ Book Group
The Bristol Area Library has been selected by the Maine Humanities Council to offer “Let’s Talk About It,” a free reading and discussion group, with copies of books available through the library. This program is provided by the Maine Humanities Council’s Maine Center for the Book, in cooperation with the Maine State Library.

Pemaquid Group of Artists to Exhibit at Damariscotta River Grill
Seventeen artists of the Pemaquid Group of Artists will exhibit their diverse styles, mediums, and viewpoints at Damariscotta River Grill Jan. 13 to Feb. 24. An opening reception will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 4-5 p.m., which will include the option of staying for a prix fixe dinner at 5 p.m. for $22, with a trio of wine pairings for $8.
New Watercolor Class at River Arts
Members of the public are encouraged to join Erica Qualey for an exciting class in watercolor at River Arts in Damariscotta starting in January.
Art Club for Children at Waldoboro Public Library
Registration has begun for a winter art program at the Waldoboro Public Library, located at 958 Main St. in Waldoboro. Art Club will be held on Thursdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. for five weeks beginning Thursday, Jan. 16 through Feb. 13, for students going into grades four through six. Whether budding artists or those just wanting to have some creative fun with materials, all abilities are welcome.

The art of decorating the White House for Christmas: Of the 8,000-plus people from 50 U.S. states who applied for the job of volunteer decorator at the White House this past Christmas season, only 225 people (from all 50 states) were chosen. Among them was Shirley McLaren, a retired nurse from Waldoboro, who traveled to Washington, D.C. for the period of Nov. 25-27 to help decorate dozens of Christmas trees with more than 2,500 strings of lights, among other things that she did.
Astrophotographer Mike Taylor to Present Slide Show Jan. 11
The Friends of the Waldoboro Public Library and the Waldoboro Public Library are pleased to present astrophotographer Mike Taylor to start the 2020 speaker series. The presentation will take place Saturday, Jan. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the Waldoboro Public Library. Taylor’s slide show and presentation includes stunning photographs of the night sky, and he will be discussing his work in detail.

Mark Ruffalo’s Stepfather to Speak at ‘Dark Waters’ Screening
The film “Dark Waters,” coming to Harbor Theater on Friday, Jan. 10 through Thursday, Jan. 16, will have a special speaker for the screening on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
