Education Focus of Dresden Fire Department Open House
After a week of back-to-back calls, including a rollover, a major structure fire that displaced 13 people, and a kitchen fire in Richmond that displaced one, the Dresden Fire Department opened its doors to the community Wednesday, Oct. 5 for its annual open house.
State Farm Sues Wiscasset Over Ladder Truck Incident
A June 2015 accident that took the Wiscasset Fire Department’s ladder truck, Ladder 1, out of service for more than a year is now the subject of a lawsuit. The State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. is suing the town of Wiscasset for the cost of the insurance payment made when the wheel of the ladder truck separated from the vehicle and rolled across the roof of a car parked at the Little Village Bistro.
Jail Administrator Arrested on OUI Charge

Two Dead in Boothbay Fire
Two men died and four people were injured in a house fire at 116 Pleasant Cove Road in Boothbay the morning of Sunday, Oct. 9.
Baldomero Zamora, 50, and Lucas Farias, 23, both of Chicago, died in the fire, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Wiscasset Negotiating Sale of Primary School
Wiscasset is currently negotiating the sale of the former Wiscasset Primary School, Town Manager Marian Anderson said at the Wiscasset Board of Selectmen’s Tuesday, Oct. 4 meeting. Negotiations are ongoing, but the entity the town is coming close to entering into a purchase-and-sale agreement with is taxable, Anderson said, which would return the Gardiner Road (Route 27) property to the tax rolls.
