The Congregational Church of Bristol in Bristol Mills will host its annual Fun Fest, or old-time country fair, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5.

For the sixth year running, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens will host educator and nature photographer Samuel Jaffe and The Caterpillar Lab from Wednesday through Sunday, July 26-30. A perennial favorite, this exhibit will highlight the diversity and ingenuity of some of New England’s most unusual caterpillars.

The Lincoln County Democratic Committee announced plans to host its annual Family Fun Day Lobster Bake, scheduled noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6. The event will occur under the Democratic big tent on the rolling landscape of Cider Hill Farm at 785 Main St. in Waldoboro.

The North Nobleboro Community Association is pleased to announce that North Nobleboro Day festivities will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, at the community grounds on Upper East Pond Road.

The grounds of the historic Pownalborough Court House in Dresden will be filled with the sounds of a perfect summer day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 9.

Many area residents have found a summer recipe they can’t resist: a salad buffet of fresh dishes served on earthenware plates they can keep.

On Saturday, July 22, Veggies to Table, a grow-to-donate produce and flower farm in Newcastle, will partner with forager and wild food cook Rachel Alexandrou to offer two classes on safely identifying and cooking with edible wild plants. Alexandrou will share her deep knowledge of wild edibles and how to properly harvest and prepare the foraged edibles.

On Saturday, July 15, the Round Pond Schoolhouse Association will present its 12th annual arts fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the historic Washington Schoolhouse at 1426 Route 32.

While galleries and shops open their doors to summer visitors during the first Wiscasset Art Walk of the season from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, village sidewalks will also be pulsing with activity from community groups who have something to say to visitors.

The Lincoln Home is hosting a lawn party from 4:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4, with premium fireworks viewing at dusk. Dance on the lawn to the fun music of the Boneheads and enjoy delicious barbecue burgers, sausages, hot dogs, and veggie burgers that will be available for purchase, along with homemade strawberry shortcake and ice cream.

For well over three-quarters of a century the homegrown, iconic Whitefield Fourth of July parade has been winding its way down Route 194 in Kings Mills to the turnaround in a neighbor’s driveway where all manner of floats and fire trucks make the turn to end up on Town House Road. This is the only parade attendees get to see twice, in case it’s missed the first time.
