Heaven received an angel on the afternoon of Aug. 20, 2024. Ruth Anne Bryant, of Stark, Fla., formerly of Damariscotta, passed away at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. Born on Nov. 15, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Ruth and Millard Clark Sr., of Damariscotta. Ruth Anne grew up locally, graduated from Lincoln Academy in 1959, and later graduated from Gates Business School.

Geraldine “Gerry” Edgerly passed away peacefully in her sleep on Aug. 17, at the remarkable age of 101. Born on Nov. 11, 1922, in Pittsfield, Gerry’s life was a rich tapestry of love, family, and service.

In the wee hours of Aug. 14, 2024, David A. Sibley set sail for one final voyage. Just like hundreds of times before, one minute he was here laughing about his near pirate-style, simplistic life, but the next gone, with no communication for what always seemed like too long. But this time he is sailing as the prettiest captain and sipping a Stoli on the rocks with just the slightest touch of cranberry. Linda is his first mate and Lori is asking if they’re there yet. His crew is composed of all his loved ones gone before him; what a glorious voyage he is having and who knows where his ship will end up on the cosmic ocean. Yes, Dave is back at sea.

The Lichtenwalner family regrets to announce the passing of Mrs. Phyllis Chadbourne Lichtenwalner, “Chad,” who died peacefully, at her home in Newtown, Conn., on Aug. 9, 2024, at the age of 96. She had been in failing health for some time.

Carlton A. Giles Sr., 88, of Boothbay passed away on Aug. 22, 2024, at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor.

William A. Leigh, also known as husband, Dad, Grampa, Great-Grampa, Brother, Uncle Tinkie, Tinker, Tink, and friend passed away on Aug. 18, 2024 at Maine General in Augusta at the age of 77. He was born at home in Washington on Nov. 17, 1946, to Archie Bernard Leigh and Lucille Avella (Prescott) Leigh.

Alfred “Al” Barter, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at his Florida home on Aug.14, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on June 28, 1953, Al’s vibrant spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone he met.

Louise Abbot, born Roberta Louise Fisher on Feb. 27, 1928, died peacefully in her sleep on July 27 at Edgewood retirement community in North Andover, Mass. She was 96 years old. She survived her husband, David Abbot; and her previous husband, R. Andrew Fletcher Jr., with whom she raised her four children, Andy III, Bob, Phebe, and Henry. She had recently lost her son, Bob, with whom she was close, in January of this year. She was a devoted mother who wanted the best for each of us.

Gail McLeod Clark, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024. She was 92 years old.

Leonard P. “Chip” Jahnke Jr., age 86, husband of Liga V. Jahnke, died July 27, 2024, at Windward Gardens in Camden, after a period of declining health.
