John Francis Coffey Jr., born April 1, 1955 in Cambridge, Mass., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, at the age of 70. John spent many years in Holliston, Mass. before retiring to Dresden. He cherished the solitude of Maine and the simple pleasures of the night sky. He enjoyed a cup of coffee at any time of day, playing his guitars daily, taking the dogs on walks, and driving without destination.

He considered himself an ordinary person committed to achieving extraordinary things. He chose to end his full and rewarding life as he had lived it, on his own terms.

Penelope Jeann Moran, 68, died Dec. 23, 2025 at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital in Damariscotta with her daughter, Michelle, holding her hand as she passed. Penelope was born June 24, 1957 in Taunton, Mass. to LaRoy Ernest Stearns and Barbara May Townsend Stearns. Penelope grew up in Norton, Mass. and attended Norton High School. She met Richard Moran while he was stationed in Boston and got married. She lived in many places over the years including Sturgeon Bay, Wisc., Saco, Ketchikan, Alaska, Waldoboro, and lastly Nobleboro.
Bessie M. (Schwarz) Lund July 12, 1930 – Nov. 30, 2025
Bessie M. (Schwarz) Lund was born at the Queens Hospital in Portland on July 12, 1930, the youngest child and only daughter of W. Frederick Schwarz and Mae E. (Mitchell) Schwarz. She grew up on Chamberlain Avenue with her parents, two older brothers, Robert and Richard, grandfather “gramps,” David Schwarz, and housekeeper, Miss Annie Noyes, who lived with them and was thought of as family. Bess attended Nathan Clifford School, Lincoln Junior High School, Deering High School class of 1948, and Northeastern Business College. She employed her secretarial skills, including typing and shorthand, in a variety of jobs in Portland, including at the courthouse, the gas company, and the bus company in the Maine Central Railroad office building.

Chad Wyman Feb. 8, 1972 - Dec. 21, 2025
Chad Wyman, 53, of Lewiston, passed away while at The Hospice House in Auburn on Dec. 21, 2025. Born on Feb. 8, 1972 in Damariscotta, he was the son of Ralph L. Wyman (now deceased) and Diane C. (Warren) Wyman. Chad grew up in Damariscotta, attending Great Salt Bay Community School. For high school, he commuted to Boothbay Region High School to play football. After high school he attended Plymouth State College with teaching as a goal. Health issues got in the way, and he was unable to reach this goal.
Jeffrey Odlin Cook
Jeffrey Odlin Cook, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 14, 2025. Cook was born to Carleton and Winona (Odlin) Cook, of Fairfield, where he attended Lawrence High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in botany from the University of Maine at Orono and a master’s in environmental management from Duke University.
