Arlene Averill Steen, 89, of Alna, passed away Feb. 6, 2024 at her home here.

Arthur Ellsworth McFarland Sr., beloved father, “Papa,” “Grampa,” “Great Papa,” and brother, passed away on Feb. 5, 2024, at Cove’s Edge with his family by his side. Born in South Bristol on Sept. 7, 1931, he was the son of Sumner and Helen (Nason) McFarland.

Donald Osier, 72, died peacefully at sunrise on Thursday, Feb. 8 after a brief illness. Donald was born on Sept. 14, 1951 to Theodore Osier, a New Harbor native, and Lois Osier, from a Connecticut farming family. Raised in Manchester, Conn., Donald graduated from Manchester High School, then attended and graduated from Bates College in 1973. He also earned a master’s degree in counseling from Michigan State University.

Matthew Frank Meservey, of Portland, passed away at Maine Medical Center, Tuesday evening on Feb. 6, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born in his family home in Bowdoinham on Nov. 3, 1936, the first child of William V. and Marjorie Walentine.

Constance Pennington Young, known as Penny, died on Jan. 19, 2024 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. She had been battling leukemia (chronic lymphocytic leukemia) and was still recovering from a bad fall from her horse in October of 2022, but died of a massive stroke.

Marlene Rines, 85, formerly of Edgecomb, passed away in the loving company of her daughter on Jan. 22, 2024 after a short stay at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 8, 1957, Stephen Leverett Chase was born at Miles Memorial Hospital, now LincolnHealth’s Miles Campus, in Damariscotta, to parents Norman L. Chase Sr. and Jean Mary Eugley Chase.

Barbara J. Warner died on Dec. 19, 2023 at the age of 81. After a brief stay in Port Saint Lucie Hospital, a heart attack ended her life. The joyfulness in which she lived her life will forever be remembered.

Darcy Boyd Austin passed away on Jan. 26, 2024, dying as she lived, with a “Make America Kind Again” button lying on her pillow and surrounded by family and friends encouraging her to have as much fun on her next adventure as she did in this life.

Richard “Dick” Ables Koubek, of Bremen, died peacefully at home with his family nearby on Jan. 12, 2024, and was buried Jan. 15 in the orchard of the family farm.
