Following a couple of busy weeks at the track, Wiscasset Speedway slowed the pace this weekend as they hosted a standard group 2 racing program. The night included four divisions of racing fun, featuring the Portland Glass Strictly Streets, T&L Automotive Modifieds, Wood Pellet Warehouse Late Models, and the Chestnut Auto Roadrunners.

Lincoln Academy’s Roan Donaghy won the 1600 meter racewalk and Medomak Valley’s Will Rush won the triple jump to repeat as Class B state champions on Saturday, June 1 at Mount Desert High School in Bar Harbor. The Eagles boys team racked up 46 points during the state championship meet to earn fifth place out of the 25 teams competing.

Camden Hills Wins Softball Pitchers’ Duel Over Panthers Camden Hills 3 – Medomak Valley 0
Camden Hills rallied for three runs in the top of the extra eighth inning to surge past Medomak Valley 3-0 on Monday, May 20 in Waldoboro. Two of the top pitchers in midcoast high school softball squared off in an epic pitchers’ duel that was tied 0-0 after regulation. The Panthers committed five errors in the game, including three in the final inning that sank their chance to earn the win.
Windjammers Baseball Outlasts Panthers Camden Hills 4 - Medomak Valley 1
Medomak Valley rallied in the sixth inning to tie Camden Hills but lost 4-1 in eight innings on Monday, May 20 in Waldoboro. Gabe Lash drove in Aaron Reed from second base on a single to tie the game 1-1. Both teams held opposing batters scoreless in the final inning to send the match to overtime. The Panthers made a couple of costly errors in the 8th inning, as the Windjammers plated three runs. Medomak Valley could not get a rally going in the bottom of the extra inning off Camden Hills ace Hunter Bell and the Windjammers held on for the win.
