Congratulations to Linda Bailey on her winning picture in The Lincoln County News photo contest for the year 2023. Her picture was taken in the snow at Kerr Brook. I was happy to see it. It brings back many pleasant memories to me. It was a part of my youth. I haven’t been there for 70 years.
Bringing Food Home WIC and the Farmers Market Nutrition Program
In efforts to highlight all the state benefits that support nutrition while increasing spending with farmers (like SNAP and Maine Harvest Bucks, Farm Fresh Rewards, and the Maine Senior FarmShare Program), let’s look at the Maine Women, Infants, and Children Program, aka WIC, and the seasonal benefit called the Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

Round Pond Players Coming to Bremen Union Church
Members of the Round Pond Players will perform at the Bremen Union Church from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15. There will be an intermission for snacks. The informal group has grown over the last few years into a pick-up music group that helps new musicians in the area make connections with more established musicians. It is always great fun to play with other musicians and learn new songs.

Mildred “Millie” Stancick Casey, 93, passed away on Aug. 6, 2024, in Damariscotta. Born on July 20, 1931, in Applebachsville, Pa., Millie was a beloved figure in her longtime home of Bethlehem, Pa., where she was a cherished member of her community.

Gail “Maxine” Poland, 89, wife of James R. Poland, passed away on Aug. 7, 2024, a day after their 69th wedding anniversary. Born in Appleton on June 24, 1935, to Leroy and Gladys (Philbrook) Dyer, Maxine grew up in Waldoboro. After graduation from Waldoboro High School, Maxine attended business college.
Ned Arthur Vitalis March 8, 1939 – July 15, 2024
Ned Vitalis passed away Sunday, July 15, 2024 after having incredible courage and acceptance of living with Parkinson’s. Born to Kathryn E. Booker and Nelson T. Booker in Greenfield, Mass. Ned was welcomed by grandmother, Eliza, Aunt Ethel, and big brother, Neal Vitalis.
