Bands for Books 2024

The Friends of the Wiscasset Public Library urge everyone to mark their calendars for their annual fundraiser, Bands for Books to will be held on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2, at Lakehurst Lodge in Damariscotta.

The Carpenter’s Boatshop was going to conduct a fundraiser by having the former CIA director, John Brennan, speak at The Lincoln Theater on July 29. Former cabinet officials make public appearances all the time but rarely so in Lincoln County and frankly we don’t know if one of the nation’s former top spies has ever made a local appearance.

Anna Elizabeth Brewer Sept. 10, 1937 - July 31, 2024

Anna Elizabeth Brewer, 86, of Augusta, formerly of Wiscasset, passed away at her residence on the evening of July 31, 2024. Born in Brewer on Sept. 10, 1937, she was the daughter of Edward and Lola (Ellis) Fahey.

Jud Caswell in Round Pond

Music resumes in Round Pond at the Little Brown Church Music Series, on Wednesday, Aug. 7, with award winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jud Caswell. He plays guitar, banjo, cittern, whistle, and basically anything he gets his hands on.

A memorial service for Anthony DiGregorio, who passed away on Jan. 27, 2024, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Bremen Union Church, 532 Waldoboro Road, in Bremen. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hall Funeral Home, in Waldoboro.

A celebration of life for Paul Stephen Bryant, who passed away on April 7, 2024, will be held from 1-4 p.m., with a time of sharing at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024 at the Riverside Boat Company, on Liberty Street in Newcastle. Parking, and a complimentary shuttle, will be available at The Lincoln Home on River Road, with overflow parking at the Second Congregational Church on Main Street, in Newcastle.

Yvonne R. Dietrich April 21, 1939 - July 25, 2024

Yvonne R. Dietrich, of Damariscotta, passed away peacefully in the presence of her friends on July 25, 2024, at the age of 85. She had resided at The Lincoln Home in Newcastle over the past five years, where she made many friends with other residents and staff. Bun was under the care of Beacon Hospice at the time of her death.

Barbara Jean Kohlasch de Garmo Oct. 4, 1946 - July 16, 2024

Barbara Jean Kohlasch de Garmo, of Boothbay, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024. Known affectionately by her husband as “Barbie,” she was born on Oct. 4, 1946, in Rye, N.Y., to Elizabeth and Robert Kohlasch.

Alexander Gnidziejko

Alexander “Alex” J. Gnidziejko, 80, of Ipswich, Mass., formerly of Camden, and New York City, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at his home after a long battle with Lewy Body Parkinson’s Disease. He was the son of the late Alexander S. and Edna Gnidziejko. Alex graduated from and briefly taught at the School of Visual Arts in NYC.
