After the war the U.S. was booming with a new consumer-based economy. Maine and Bristol remained pretty much stuck in the past. Taxes were inequitable, many roads were still dirt and others were out of repair. Much of our infrastructure and institutions were antiquated. Most people returned to their previous jobs or became a “jack of all trades.” It’s interesting that so many of these people lived into their 90s.

Kenneth Joseph Coleman, 82, of Bristol, passed away at home early on April 10 after a brief illness.

Edward M. Chickering Sr., 89, of Bristol, passed away on the morning of April 6, 2023, at Windward Gardens in Camden, after a period of declining health, with his loving wife and family by his side. Born in Bristol on May 3, 1933, he was the son of Clarence and Mabel (Chapman) Chickering.

Lhea Alexandra Sellick was born in Portland, on a snowy Easter Sunday, to Susan and Shawn Sellick. She died on Palm Sunday, in Edgecomb, at the home she shared with her partner of eight years, Remy Taylor, of Massachusetts.

Joan Aline Butterman Tyler Smith passed away peacefully in Santa Rosa, Calif., on March 19, 2023. She was 87 years of age. She was born to Richard L. Butterman and Eileen (Gordon) Butterman in July of 1935, in the town of Chester, Mass.
