Once again the flags are flying high and proud in the village for Memorial Day and the summer season. Thank you to B.J. for hanging them. He has a plan to get at least eight more so that they are hanging from most of the poles at both ends of the town.

The Damariscotta Montessori School recently celebrated Cultural Day at the school with elementary students and their families. Cultural Day is an annual event at the school that celebrates world cultures and the universality of humankind. The event this year was moved to May to allow for the displays to be set up outside.

After a very high wind microburst on Sunday, the old horse chestnut tree on the lawn of the house that Paul and Shari Cunningham used to own on Anchor Inn Road decided to give up the good fight and over it went. Luckily it fell across the road and not on the home.

The Shottery Gallery of Art will be welcoming visitors for its 24th season starting Saturday, June 5. Following state guidelines, visitors may wish to wear a face mask for indoor viewing. This year’s featured images will be scenic locations on Monhegan Island, local marine paintings, and fresh flowers such as orchids.
