Marie C. Hendrickson, 94, of Friendship, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2021 at the Sussman House in Rockport. A full obituary with service information will be posted when available.
Veterans’ Dental Network Launches May 15
Gov. Janet Mills recently announced the formation of the Maine Veterans’ Dental Network in partnership with Northeast Delta Dental, participating dental clinics, and federally qualified health centers. The network will provide dental services to Maine’s veterans who otherwise could not afford them and will officially launch on May 15.
Backyard Wildlife Herons: Farewell
If I had to pick one local bird to symbolize the Damariscotta River and coastal Lincoln County, it would be the great blue heron. A denizen of local tidal areas and wetlands, these large birds make a primordial squawking. At night, the sound can be downright sinister. As a child, I remember my grandmother, Margo Kornahrens, relaying that great blue herons sounded like someone in distress in the dark. We would hear them late in the evening, hunting along the edges of the nearby shoreline in South Bristol.
