Helping Hands of Round Pond will hold a sale of homemade sweets just in time for Valentine’s Day. Vernon Allan Johnston died peacefully on Jan. 31, 2022, at the Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, Va., following a period of deteriorating health. Allan was born on Aug. 6, 1955, in Damariscotta to the late Vernon Johnston and Lorraine (Perry) Johnston.

The second annual Jeff Bradbury Memorial Ice Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19. Tickets are available at Damariscotta Hardware, in Damariscotta, and at Louis Doe Home Center and Mail It 4 U in Newcastle. MaineHealth is altering slightly its policy with respect to how care team members return to work after a case of COVID-19, dropping a requirement for a negative antigen test following a completed quarantine period, according to a news release. The change does not conflict with existing CDC guidance for returning health care team members to the workplace after contracting COVID-19.
