It took Charles Harris, of Damariscotta, several days to recover from the mental and physical challenges posed by a recent nine-day road race called the Hemmings Motor News Great Race. The race is always grueling, but this year the daily temperatures of over 100 degrees took a toll on Harris, navigator Phillip Reinhardt, and Harris’ 1931 Reo Royale.
Racers Post Fast Times in Waldoboro Day 5K Despite Rain
More than 50 runners, from age 6 to 74, braved the cold, rainy weather to run in the Waldoboro Day 5K on the morning of Saturday, June 17. The participants finished the race with impressive times despite the conditions, including the event’s second best time ever, 16:59, by overall winner Connor Daigle.

Second Annual Paddle For A Purpose Thrives Despite Cold, Wet Weather
A fleet of 85 paddlers braved unusually harsh weather on Saturday, June 3 to celebrate the second annual Paddle for a Purpose. The fundraising event featured a five-mile trek by canoe, kayaks, and paddleboards down the Damariscotta River from the Damariscotta harbor to Glidden Point Oyster Farms in Edgecomb.
