Rising Lincoln Academy seniors Seamus Strout and Thomas Mickael are challenging themselves and advancing their skills by playing lacrosse for the Maine Mussels travel team this summer. The Maine Mussels game schedule consists of three weekend-long tournaments throughout New England in June and July.

The two most popular opportunities to play locally are in Damariscotta at the Great Salt Bay Community School on Sundays at 3 p.m. and in Boothbay at Clifford Park on Mondays and Thursdays at 6 p.m.

The Medomak Valley 11-12 Little League baseball team lost to York 14-4 on Monday, July 21 in Machias. With the loss on Monday and another defeat at the hands of Capital Area on Saturday, July 19, the District 2 champion team was bounced from the double elimination Maine Little League 12U championship tournament.

Linehan Wins Sheepscot River Race
Ryan Linehan won the 32nd annual Sheepscot River Race on Sunday, July 6 in Wiscasset. Linehan paddled a kayak to victory in a time of 54 minutes flat. The 6-mile canoe and kayak race began at the Route 1 rest area bridge in Newcastle and finished at the town landing in Wiscasset.

Medomak beat Oceanside 4-2 in the championship game of the District 2 Little League softball tournament for 11- and 12-year-olds on Tuesday, July 1 in Waldoboro. With the win, Medomak advanced to the state tournament, which will be held in Ellsworth.

Medomak won the District 2 Little League softball championship for ages 8-10 with an 18-0 win over Lincoln on June 30 in Friendship. With the win, the team advanced to the state tournament, which will be held in South Berwick beginning on Friday, July 11.

Panthers Boys Tennis Nets Win Over Oceanside Medomak Valley 3 – Oceanside 2
The Panthers boys tennis team defeated Oceanside 3-2 on Wednesday, May 21 in Waldoboro. Medomak Valley upped their season record to 6-5, while Oceanside fell to 4-8. Kollin Donlin suffered the only defeat of the day for the Panthers, losing the first singles match 4-6, 6-4, 3-6 to Gilbert Thill. Michael Riley beat Braydon Fogg 6-1, 6-1 in second singles, and Gavin White won the third singles match by forfeit after his opponent David Geddis retired after trailing White 4-1 in the first set. Judd Gamage and Jayden Drost won the first doubles match 6-0, 6-3 over Oceanside’s Landon Carballo and Jordan Black. Medomak Valley forfeited the second doubles match due to lack of players.

Laura Chapman of Boothbay Region High School won three matches and advanced to the semifinals of the Maine State Tennis Championships singles tournament on Saturday, May 18 at Colby College in Waterville.
