The Oshima Brothers “grew up at the end of a very long dirt road in Whitefield in a house with many, many instruments and not so many neighbors. Childhood was running around in the woods and getting lost in music,” Sean Oshima said. Younger brother Jamie “started banging on a full drum kit at the age of 4 — every parent’s nightmare,” before picking up guitar when he was 7 or 8. “Music never felt forced,” Sean said, “it was always happy.”
Westport Notecards Feature Local Art, History
The Friends of Westport Island History are excited to announce an inaugural series of Westport Island notecards based on local paintings just in time for holiday giving. Local Students Participate in Musical Theater Auditions
On Nov. 14, eight students from the voice studio of Beth Preston participated in the Maine National Association of Teachers of Singing musical theater auditions. In the past, the auditions have been live in front of judges at Bates College. This year, the students submitted video recordings for judges to review.

Printmaker at Saltwater Gallery
Kay Miller is a printmaker who exhibits at the Saltwater Artists Gallery, a nonprofit cooperative group of artists. She took her first class at Roundtop Center for the Arts in Damariscotta after retiring from 35 years of teaching, the last two years of which were spent in Kyrgyzstan. After exploring several techniques such as etching, silk-screening, and lithography, she began concentrating on botanical monotypes.
Lincoln Theater Announces Reopening
The board of Damariscotta’s historic Lincoln Theater has unanimously approved a targeted reopening date of Jan. 1, 2021.
