Barbecue, Music, and Fireworks On The Lincoln Home Lawn July 4

The Lincoln Home is hosting a lawn party from 4:30-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4, with premium fireworks viewing at dusk. Dance on the lawn to the fun music of the Boneheads and enjoy delicious barbecue burgers, sausages, hot dogs, and veggie burgers that will be available for purchase, along with homemade strawberry shortcake and ice cream.

Fourth of July in Whitefield

For well over three-quarters of a century the homegrown, iconic Whitefield Fourth of July parade has been winding its way down Route 194 in Kings Mills to the turnaround in a neighbor’s driveway where all manner of floats and fire trucks make the turn to end up on Town House Road. This is the only parade attendees get to see twice, in case it’s missed the first time.

17th Century Watercraft at Colonial Pemaquid

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, July 15-16, visit Colonial Pemaquid State Historic Site to step back in time to the rough-and-tumble world of 17th century Maine. Discover why watercraft such as the Native American birch bark canoe and European shallop were so important to the Wabanaki, English, and French as they traded, negotiated, socialized, and fought with one another.

Bands for Books Fundraiser at Lakehurst Lodge

On Labor Day, the Friends of Wiscasset Library will hold its ninth Bands for Books fundraiser. From the first year in 2014, Katharine Martin-Savage was a major force on the committee which still plans this party for those who use and enjoy the library.

Maine State Aquarium Open House

The Maine State Aquarium, a program of the Maine Department of Marine Resources, will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Wednesday, June 28 through Saturday, July 1 to preview the educational attractions to come when the aquarium opens its doors for good next summer.

Passenger Rail Returning to the Midcoast

Officials of Midcoast Railservice, lessee-operator of the state-owned Brunswick-Rockland railroad line since last August, have announced the coming revival of passenger excursions between stations in Bath, Brunswick, Newcastle, Rockland, and Wiscasset.
