Speaker Series Begins with Colonial Gardening Talk Boothbay Region Historical Society

On Thursday, May 13 at 4:30 pm, the Boothbay Region Historical Society will kick off its 2021 speaker series with historian Mike Dekker’s talk, “Shared Ground: An Exploration of 17th-Century Indigenous and Euromerican Cultures through Gardening.” Due to COVID-19 restrictions, this free talk will be available by Zoom only.

Midcoast Conservancy Offers Two Bird Walks

Midcoast Conservancy will offer two spring walks with bird experts Howie Nielsen and Jonathan Alderfer, who will share their bird identification skills. The first walk will be from 7-10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12 and the second will take place from 7-10 a.m. on Saturday, May 29.

Maine Maple Sunday Weekend Set for March 27-28 Maine Maple Producers Association

Last year, the Maine Maple Producers Association and its members were forced to postpone the industry’s largest event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One year later, association members are prepared to host Maine Maple Sunday® at sugar houses across the state the weekend of March 27-28. Participating sugar houses are taking steps to follow Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and prepare their facilities and staff to welcome guests safely on site.

Coastal Rivers Offers Program on Attracting Bluebirds

With its brilliant plumage, cheerful song, and taste for insects, bluebirds make for delightful neighbors. However, they have specialized needs when it comes to food and nesting sites. From 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust naturalist Sarah Gladu will offer an online program about attracting eastern bluebirds.

Mid-Coast Audubon Presents Birding in Costa Rica

Mid-Coast Audubon and Camden Public Library will host a free online Zoom pictorial overview of the 2020 Maine Audubon trip to Costa Rica on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m.

CLC YMCA Launches Virtual Event

The CLC YMCA will offer a six-week virtual event full of different activities and challenges for the community to participate in. The Stronger Together Virtual Event will be posted on the CLC YMCA’s social media pages and website, and will run from Feb. 15 – March 28.
