Myron Stanley Long, 82, partner of Linda Belisle, died peacefully at the Maine General Medical Center in Augusta on July 28, 2025.

On July 30, 2025, Martha Ann Goodyear Mason passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly, the very night she returned to her beloved Shipley Point in Christmas Cove. She was just two days shy of her 102nd birthday. Martha was looking forward to the enjoyment of family and friends for the month of August. Her birthday became a celebration of her life with her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. All rejoiced in her incredibly long life and her positive spirit. She was known for her lifelong demonstration of kindness and grace, along with her devotion to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her husband, and all who came to know her.

Albert Martin Severson, 92, of Waldoboro, passed away Aug. 4, 2025. Albert was born June 14, 1933 in Waldoboro to Andrew Martin Severson and Gertrude Haskell Severson. He grew up in Waldoboro and graduated from Waldoboro High School in 1955.

Elizabeth “Liz” Holly York passed away peacefully on Aug. 3, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Her courageous battle with cancer was a testament to her strength and bravery, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Timothy William Schiffinger, a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away on July 27, 2025. Born on Jan. 30, 1969 in Utica, N.Y., to Karl and Melodye Schiffinger, Tim grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of Remsen, where he developed a lifelong love for hunting and fishing – pastimes that brought him peace and joy.

Michael Joseph Kelly, 64, passed away on July 30, 2025 surrounded by his family in Christmas Cove. While his death was unexpected, he had spent his last days enjoying life to its fullest with his wife and life partner, Cait Kelly, by his side – boating on the Damariscotta River, swimming in Christmas Cove, fly fishing in Canada, and helping with the planning for the upcoming weddings of his two daughters, Emma (marrying Paul Sullivan in Italy in the fall) and Maggie (marrying Annie Kelly in Maine next summer). He had also been looking forward to an upcoming visit from his son Caleb, daughter-in-law Sarah, and his three granddaughters Nina, Lily, and Winnie.

Dorothy Bryant Booher passed away at home in Bradenton, Fla. on July 26, 2025. She and her beloved husband, O. Kent Booher, were married for 56 years.

Cecil William Rittall Jr., 78, of Nobleboro, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Aug. 1, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by love and supported by an extraordinary care team, Cecil met his final days with grace and strength — a testament to the spirit that defined his life.

On the morning of July 31, 2025, after a brief illness, Mary peacefully left this life to live in eternal peace with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

On July 25, 2025, Gail Rothenberger Shand, age 91, passed away peacefully, after a long illness, in Legacy Memory Care at Oceanview Retirement Community in Falmouth.

Neil F. Genthner Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Damariscotta on the afternoon of July 29, 2025. Born at Miles Memorial Hospital, Neil was a true Mainer. His parents, Edna Waltz Genthner and Dennis Genthner Sr., settled in Damariscotta with their three children, Natalie, Neil, and Dennis (also known to family and friends as Sammy). Neil attended Castner Grammar School and Lincoln Academy. His favorite memories from grammar school were the division championships won in both baseball and basketball.

With heavy hearts and fond memories, we announce the passing of Janet Cotton, who left this world on April 30, 2025, at the age of 83. Born in Boston, Mass. on Oct. 1, 1941, to Charles L. and Mabel (Brooks) Cotton, Janet was a beacon of warmth and creativity from an early age. She grew up in Boxford, Mass. where her spirited personality blossomed, leading her to be a proud member of the first graduating class of Masconomet Regional High School. Janet continued her journey by attending Lasell Junior College in Newton, Mass., forever curious and eager to learn.
