She was just two days shy of her 102nd birthday. Martha was looking forward to the enjoyment of family and friends for the month of August. Her birthday became a celebration of her life with her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. All rejoiced in her incredibly long life and her positive spirit. She was known for her lifelong demonstration of kindness and grace, along with her devotion to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her husband, and all who came to know her.

While his death was unexpected, he had spent his last days enjoying life to its fullest with his wife and life partner, Cait Kelly, by his side – boating on the Damariscotta River, swimming in Christmas Cove, fly fishing in Canada, and helping with the planning for the upcoming weddings of his two daughters, Emma (marrying Paul Sullivan in Italy in the fall) and Maggie (marrying Annie Kelly in Maine next summer). He had also been looking forward to an upcoming visit from his son Caleb, daughter-in-law Sarah, and his three granddaughters Nina, Lily, and Winnie.

Neil F. Genthner Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Damariscotta on the afternoon of July 29, 2025. Born at Miles Memorial Hospital, Neil was a true Mainer. His parents, Edna Waltz Genthner and Dennis Genthner Sr., settled in Damariscotta with their three children, Natalie, Neil, and Dennis (also known to family and friends as Sammy). Neil attended Castner Grammar School and Lincoln Academy. His favorite memories from grammar school were the division championships won in both baseball and basketball.
