Whitefield Barn and Contents Destroyed in Early Morning Fire
A barn at 222 Hunts Meadow Road in Whitefield that was used as a welding workshop and a storage space for “upward of $50,000” in welding equipment and ATVs burned to the ground early Tuesday, Nov. 14, according to Whitefield Deputy Fire Chief Tom Feeney. There were no injuries, as the building was uninhabited at the time.
Fire Damages Home on Main Street in Waldoboro
A house at 1154 Main St. in Waldoboro sustained fire damage to its living room and heavy heat and smoke damage to other rooms the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 13, but no one was hurt, according to the town’s fire chief.

Power Restoration Complete
Although not as devastating as the recent wind storm, high winds once again blasted through Lincoln County on Friday, resulting in new power outages. There were over 2000 power outages reported in Lincoln County late afternoon on Friday at the height of the storm, according to Central Maine Power Co. Power has since been restored to all Lincoln County households, according to CMP.
At 18, North Whitefield Man Survived Kamikaze Attack Near Okinawa
An 18-year-old from North Whitefield was at his post in the engine room, which kamikazes would target in an attempt to disable ships, when a Japanese plane set its sights on the USS Goodhue off Okinawa on April 2, 1945.
