Capt. Ted Schmidt, 89, passed away on the morning of Friday, April 5, 2024. He was born on Dec. 12, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio, to Norman W. Schmidt and Ruth L. Hubler.

Gerald “Jerry” Chadwick, age 88, passed away on April 5, 2024, at his home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 15, at 2 p.m. at the Advent Christian Church, 19 Cushing Road, Friendship.

Shiela Louise (McNaughton) Maxcy, age 82, of Waldoboro, passed away on Easter Sunday at Harbor View Cottage in Newcastle with her loving husband and daughter by her side. During her last hours, Dale told her “The greatest gift I ever received was from your mom and dad, and that was you.”
Benjamin Rivers Ogburn June 22, 1931 - March 14, 2024
Benjamin Rivers Ogburn, M.D., 92, of Tallahassee, Fla., and South Bristol, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, March 14, 2024. He was born in Lawrenceville, Va., to William Jones Ogburn and Lena Rivers (née Jones) Ogburn on June 22, 1931. He was the fifth of six children, all of whom have predeceased him. He was raised on a dairy farm and retired as a respected psychiatrist, who spent over 36 years giving service to his country, achieving rank of captain in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Dodgeball Tournament To Benefit Wiscasset Girls Basketball

Nobleboro Community Workday Rescheduled, Again
Due to the impending snowstorm, the Nobleboro Recreation Committee again changed the date if its first community workday again. It is rescheduled for Saturday, April 13 from 8-11 a.m. The rain date of Saturday, April 20.
Girl Scouts Open Drive Thru Cookie Booth
Girl Scout Troop No. 1145 will open a temporary a drive-thru cookie sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, April 6 and April 13. The drive thru booth will be set up at 441 Main Street, across from Dunkin’ Donuts in Damariscotta.
