Lillian was born in Bath on Sept. 22, 1932, to Glenwood and Dora Bishop Sukeforth. Moving to Waldoboro at age 11, she graduated from Waldoboro High School in the class of ‘49. At age 18 she married the handsome James Martin and together they had five children and many adventures including a trip across country and a five-month stay in Arizona. Their children, Mae-Ellen Bailey (Florida), Glenda Beverage (James) (Maine), son, James Martin (Maine), Bethany Nammour (Henri) (Florida), Melody Velosa (Danny) (Florida).

Community Yard Sale Sept. 23
The first Waldoboro community yard sale over the summer was so successful, residents asked to do it again. On Saturday, Sept. 23, Waldoboro will welcome fall with yard sales all over town from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., some including extended hours.
Midcoast Matters Preserves Tell Stories
Maine Master Naturalist Susan Cottle will lead a Wednesday Wander at Griggs Preserve from 10 a.m. to noon on Sept. 20. Griggs Preserve is a 56-acre tract of wooded upland forest, with trails that pass by the Sheepscot River, an upland bog, an old porcupine den, and majestic eastern white pine trees. As you hop over the babbling spring and walk alongside the railroad tracks, keep an eye out for deer, turkeys, raptors, and pileated woodpeckers.
