New Art and Science Exhibit to Open at Bigelow Lab
A new two-story art installation that celebrates ocean life in the Gulf of Maine and the scientific efforts to understand it will open at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences on Nov. 9. “Majestic Fragility” was created by Gulf of Maine EcoArts artists, in collaboration with ocean scientists and students from across the state.

I had a lot of positive responses to last week’s article about Lossie Morton so with Veterans Day being this Thursday, Nov. 11, I would like to write about another war hero from Round Pond, Harry “Mitt” Masters. I have an article (again from Bethiah Callahan) that was written on Aug. 15, 1944 from Mitt’s hospital bed at a base hospital in England, where he gave an interview to John M. O’Connell Jr., the managing editor at the Bangor Daily News.

2022 Calendars Available from Damariscotta Historical Society
The Damariscotta Historical Society’s 2022 calendar is available, featuring 13 historical pictures. This year’s images include the first snowmobile in Damariscotta from around 1920. Dr. Robert Belknap drove it around in the winter to see patients.
