At the most basic level, a fact is simply information that many people believed to be true. Centuries ago people believed the earth was flat. Early days of medicine thought that sickness could be cured by bleeding the patient. Such facts turn out not to be true when new information is gained through experience and/or research.

Randall H. Achorn, Sr., 68, of Waldoboro, passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 12, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. at Shuman Cemetery in Waldoboro. A full obituary to follow.

The month of November is the month that I lost both of my parents. Granted it was 18 years apart, but it always is kind of a different month for me. Last week, I tried to tell you about my dad, my hero. And I hope, I was somewhat successful. Now, I want to tell you about my mom, my hero, as well, another member of America’s Greatest Generation.

Legion Auxiliary Hosts Events to Support Veterans

The American Legion Auxiliary in Waldoboro will be having a veterans wreath sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at the corner of Depot Street and Route 1 in Waldoboro.

Free Thanksgiving Dinners at Lincoln County Assembly of God

Individuals may pick up a free take-out Thanksgiving dinner at Lincoln County Assembly of God, 672 Main St., Damariscotta. Each dinner will have roasted turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, squash, cranberry sauce, and apple or pumpkin pie.

Fundraising Raffle for Boothbay V.E.T.S. Project

The Pemaquid Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution furnished a contemporary coastal-themed miniature dollhouse valued at over $500 for a fundraiser to help raise money to purchase a trailer for the Boothbay V.E.T.S. project for homeless veterans. Each trailer costs $8,000 to complete.
