Several times each year, Midcoast Humane holds low-cost vaccination clinics for dogs and cats in the community. Clinics take place in different locations throughout 40 communities and are made possible by volunteers, including the veterinarians.
Damariscotta Historical Society Silent Auction Closes Aug. 27
Bidding for the Damariscotta Historical Society’s silent auction at Skidompha Library will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27. The auction benefits the cemeteries restoration fund, which provides funds to help maintain two dozen ancient burial grounds around Damariscotta.

Organizers of The Carpenter’s Boat Shop’s upcoming tool sale on Saturday, Aug. 28 have been surprised by large donations of electrical supplies from circuit breakers, wiring, switches, outlets, special hardware, and tools to plumbing supplies like tools, fittings, and bathroom hardware.

Joan Niles, 88, died peacefully at Penney Farms Retirement Community in Florida on Aug. 8, 2021 and will be dearly missed. Her family has lived on Rutherford Island since the early 1950s.

From 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 22, the Old Bristol Historical Society will host an old-fashioned ice cream social at the Bristol History Center and Mill at Pemaquid Falls, 2089 Bristol Road in Pemaquid.
New Traffic Pattern in Edgecomb
The Maine Department of Transportation wants members of the traveling public to be aware of changing traffic patterns at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 27 (Boothbay Road) in Edgecomb. Beginning Aug. 16, northbound Route 27 traffic will be detoured to Cross Road in order to access Route 1. The DOT expects this detour to be in place until early September.

Gala Abstract Show Opens at River Arts
River Arts Gallery’s 2021 “Abstract” show is full of powerful color and emotional expression, demonstrating that abstract art is alive and vibrant in Maine. This year’s “Abstract” show was selected by artist and educator, Ingrid Ellison. The show runs from Tuesday, Aug. 10 through Saturday, Sept. 11.
