Fracking — which involves the use of high-pressure fluids to extract oil and gas from subterranean rock — is not safe. It is beyond the power of regulations to redeem it — not that any such regulations are in the making.

Annalee Elsie (Cross) Littlefield of Morrill, peacefully and quietly passed away on Jan. 20, 2020, at Mount St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center in Waterville. She had happily resided for the last several years at Round Pond Green in Round Pond, where she made many friends and was cared for with love and respect.

A Wiscasset man has been charged in connection with three vehicle burglaries that occurred on Page Avenue in Wiscasset late Friday, Jan. 24 or early Saturday, Jan. 25.

Technology Needs at Waldo Theatre Aided by Grant Award

The Waldo Theatre in Waldoboro has been awarded $5,000, the largest amount possible, from the Maine Theater Fund of the Maine Community Foundation. This grant will help defray the cost of extensive technology upgrades and improvements needed at the theater to both enhance audience experience and reduce energy consumption.

Beekeeping Course Starts Feb. 25

Members of the public are encouraged to discover the fascinating hobby of beekeeping by attending a seven-week course presented by experienced beekeepers from the Knox-Lincoln County Beekeepers, the Maine State Beekeepers Association, and Maine’s state bee inspector, who will provide attendees with basic information to get started as a beekeeper. This course is designed for first- and second-year beekeepers.
