Lincoln Academy boys basketball team picked up their first win of the season on Dec. 17 with a 65-52 victory over Gardiner in the Eagles nest. A balanced offensive attack saw three Eagles score in double figures, including Gabe Hagar 18, Jake Masters 15, Tucker Stiles 12 and Lucas Houghton 10. Gardiner was led by Colby Moody with 19 and Dillon Elliott 10.

Medomak Valley girls picked up their first win of the season on Dec. 14, 40-29 at Leavitt. The Lady Panthers were led by Addison McCormick with 16 points, Alyssa Creamer 10 and Maya Cannon 6. Leavitt was led by Michaela Harrinton and Caitlyn McCoy with 7 each.

Medomak Valley boys basketball team opened their KVAC season with a 65-49 win over rival Oceanside on Dec. 10.
Leavitt defeated Lincoln Academy boys basketball team 59-42 in a KVAC opener on Dec. 10. The Hornets jumped out to a 16-6 lead. Lincoln cut the lead to five at the half, and to one at the end of three, 43-42.
Oceanside girls basketball team defended their home turf in their season opener, 60-25 over Medomak Valley.

Leavitt girls basketball robbed the Eagles nest for a 44-29 win on Dec. 10 in the two teams KVAC opener.

Lincoln Academy wrestlers Jayden Lafrenaye (145), Corbin Drake (170) and Adam St.Cyr (106) placed first at the 39th annual Steven J. Westlake Memorial Wrestling Tournament, held in Bath on Dec. 4

The Maurice “Jake” Day Christmas dioramas are once again on display this holiday season at the Milling Around in Newcastle. They will be lit from sunset until 9 p.m.

Three local dancers will be performing in “A Nutcracker Christmas” on Dec. 3 and 4, at the Gendron Franco Center in Lewiston. They include Elizabeth Seibel, 16-year-old Lily Vermillion, and her mother Robin Vermillion. The Dance Center of Auburn is putting on the production.

Shawn St. Cyr is returning to Lincoln Academy to coach wrestling. He has been involved with the Eagle wrestling program off and on for a number of years. In the past he has served as head coach, assistant coach and volunteer assistant coach. Most recently he has coached the Maine Trappers and USA Wrestling Maine East out of his facility in Somerville.
Robert ‘Radar’ Applebee is the new head girls basketball coach at Wiscasset high school. Wiscasset did not field a basketball team in 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 outbreak, but did offer after school skills development.
New Wiscasset high school varsity boys coach Rick Larrabee said he is on board for the long haul. He and new girls varsity coach Robert ‘Radar’ Applebee are both planning to work with young athletes at the recreation and middle school level to develop their skills to build their programs. They plan to involve the high school athletes in developing the skills of the younger kids.
