Alfred “Al” Barter, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away at his Florida home on Aug.14, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on June 28, 1953, Al’s vibrant spirit and unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone he met.

Louise Abbot, born Roberta Louise Fisher on Feb. 27, 1928, died peacefully in her sleep on July 27 at Edgewood retirement community in North Andover, Mass. She was 96 years old. She survived her husband, David Abbot; and her previous husband, R. Andrew Fletcher Jr., with whom she raised her four children, Andy III, Bob, Phebe, and Henry. She had recently lost her son, Bob, with whom she was close, in January of this year. She was a devoted mother who wanted the best for each of us.

Gail McLeod Clark, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024. She was 92 years old.

Leonard P. “Chip” Jahnke Jr., age 86, husband of Liga V. Jahnke, died July 27, 2024, at Windward Gardens in Camden, after a period of declining health.

Gail “Maxine” Poland, 89, wife of James R. Poland, passed away on Aug. 7, 2024, a day after their 69th wedding anniversary. Born in Appleton on June 24, 1935, to Leroy and Gladys (Philbrook) Dyer, Maxine grew up in Waldoboro. After graduation from Waldoboro High School, Maxine attended business college.

Ned Vitalis passed away Sunday, July 15, 2024 after having incredible courage and acceptance of living with Parkinson’s. Born to Kathryn E. Booker and Nelson T. Booker in Greenfield, Mass. Ned was welcomed by grandmother, Eliza, Aunt Ethel, and big brother, Neal Vitalis.

Carol Ann Foster-Robbins, 79, of Waldoboro and Yarmouth, passed away on Aug. 7, 2024, at Coastal Manor in Yarmouth. Carol was born in Damariscotta on June 16, 1945, to Lloyd Carlton Foster and Pauline “Polly” (Eugley) Foster. Carol grew up in Waldoboro and attended local schools.

Dean Ellis Shea, 84, of Wiscasset, decided to go on to his next adventure on Aug. 3, 2024 surrounded by the strong love of his family. Dean was born on June 11, 1940, to Donald and Lucille (Quinnam) Shea in Damariscotta.

Ronald “Ron”/“Ronnie” S. Nygaard, 63, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at his residence.

Anna Elizabeth Brewer, 86, of Augusta, formerly of Wiscasset, passed away at her residence on the evening of July 31, 2024. Born in Brewer on Sept. 10, 1937, she was the daughter of Edward and Lola (Ellis) Fahey.
