David J. Caron, 83, of New Harbor, passed away at his home on the afternoon of July 4, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in Millinocket on June 15, 1942, he was the son of Joseph and Cora (Paradis) Caron.

Janice O’Brien died on Dec. 31, 2024 at her home in Chamblee, Ga. surrounded by love and family and listening to piano arrangements of her favorite church hymns. Janice was raised in Brockton, Mass. with her elder brother, James. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1958 and went on to earn a Master of Library Science from Case Western University.

Barbara Decker Egbert lived a joyful life filled with laughter and friendship until she left us on May 22, 2025. Her joie de vivre was her most beautiful trait and her chic outfits, hats, and lipstick were recognizable everywhere in her social world. She always wanted to live to be 100 until she got to her 90s. Suddenly her best friend was gone, everything hurt, and it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Her advice is to live life to the fullest while you can – don’t put off your dreams until you hurt too much to enjoy them!

Geraldine “Gerri” M. Sawyer, 79, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on March 14, 1946 in Rockland to Ralph and Mildred (Erwin) Thompson. She grew up in Rockland and attended local schools, graduating from Rockland High School.

Bernadette McGowan Moss, born on Feb. 18, 1950 in Fall River, Mass., passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, at Saint Patrick’s Manor in Framingham, Mass. She was 75 years old.

Stephen Andrew Merrill, age 57, passed away on June 8, 2025, at the home of his cousin, Heather Clark, in Ashland, Mass.

Jean Chase, 87, of Bristol, passed away late in the evening of June 26, 2025. Born on Nov. 15, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Tilson and Sylvia (Rice) Eugley.

Gisele Levesque St. Pierre, 88, of Bristol, passed away peacefully at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta on June 26, 2025. She was born on July 1, 1936 in Saint Louis-du-Ha! Ha!, Quebec, the daughter of Antoine and Mathilda Boucher Levesque. Gisele grew up in Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!, attending local schools.

Oscar E. Cronk Jr., 94, of Gardiner Road, Wiscasset, died Tuesday, May 21, 2025 at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick. He was born in Haynesville on June 12, 1930, son of Oscar E. and Susie P. (Easler) Cronk Sr. The family started their lives in Aroostook County, later moving to Bucksport, then Newcastle and to Wiscasset in 1942 when Oscar was 12. After school he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1948-1950. Oscar married Edith “Edie” A. Pickering on Sept. 3, 1960.

Catherine Ellen Dodge Gilbert, “Kay,” gained her angel wings at her home in Gardiner. She was so happy to be back near her cherished cousins, with whom she grew up spending summers on Lake Cobbosseecontee and more recently, a standing Wednesday morning breakfast at Dave’s Diner.

Gordon E. Blank, fondly known as “Bugz,” passed away peacefully at home on June 14, 2025 surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with health issues. He was 82 years old. Born on Sept. 28, 1942 in Lynn, Mass., he was the son of Gordon and Rita (Hayes) Blank. Gordon lived a life rooted in the communities of Jefferson, Pemaquid, and New Harbor.

Elizabeth T. (Fitzpatrick) Gerding, 87, of Biddeford and formerly Newcastle, died on June 16, 2025 after filling the world with love, laughter, and exuberance. Elizabeth “Betty” valued family above all, and was cherished by many friends, neighbors, and casual acquaintances alike.
