Mildred Mary Bayley, 92, died on Valentine’s Day at the Zimmerli Pavilion at St. Andrews Village. “Sue” as she was known, was born in Newcastle, to Lawrence “Duffy” Dodge and Frances Webber. Sue was the second of four children: Emma (Donald) Googins, Lawrence “Brud” Dodge, and Hilda (Bill) Lewis.

Norman E. Carter, better known as “Pepa,” passed away Jan. 18, 2025, in Bremen from his battle with cancer. He was born in Damariscotta on Nov. 19, 1961, the son of Fernald and Carrie Sanborn Carter.

Roberta Elaine Humason, born Dec. 30, 1929 to John Fredrick and Beatrice Richardson Sutherburg in Nantucket, Mass., passed away Jan. 23, 2025 in Crystal River, Fla. at the age of 95.

Margaret “Peggy” Lewis Baughman, nee Fleming, 87, passed away peacefully on Feb. 11, 2025 with family by her side. Born Sept. 16, 1937 in Baltimore, Md., she was the loving daughter of Lewis Edgar Fleming and Dorothy Moore Fleming. Beloved wife of the late Peter Fridley Baughman, Esq., she is survived by her three children Martha (Eric Propper), Rebecca, and John; and her five grandchildren, Trip, Mason, Austin, Fiona, and Harry. Her brother, Lewis E. “Buzzy” Fleming Jr., predeceased her.

Joseph Normand Roger Poulin, 92, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025 at Douglas T. Jacobson State Veteran’s Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, Fla. He was born Feb. 2, 1933 in Lewiston, to Aime Lionel Poulin and Simonne (Dumont) Rita.

James “Jim” Poole passed away peacefully at his home in Newcastle on Feb. 11, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on July 6, 1932 – what would become the lowest day of the Great Depression’s stock market – Jim often quipped, “things could only go up from there!”

Vyrell Leona Burton passed away on Feb. 4, 2025 at Bayview Manor in Searsport after a long battle with dementia.

Henry Gordon Hohorst, born on Dec. 11, 1930, passed away on Jan. 29, 2025 at the age of 94. His legacy is etched in the miles of rail lines he helped revive, the businesses he guided, and the quiet, steadfast leadership he brought to every endeavor. More importantly, it lives on in his family, with bonds as strong as the steel rails he maintained.

Cathy D. Cole, 72, of Waldoboro, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 3, 2025 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. Born on April 26, 1952, she was the daughter of Jack and Ruth Castner, of Waldoboro.

Frank E. Waltz Sr., 88, of Jefferson, passed away on the morning of Feb. 10, 2025. Frank was born on Sept. 29, 1936, the son of Sewall Waltz and Irene (Robinson) Waltz. Frank grew up in Damariscotta Mills with his 10 siblings.
