Defending State champs and second seed Boothbay Regions girls basketball team defeated seventh seed Sacopee Valley 55-35 on Feb. 18 in a South Class C quarter-final match-up at the Augusta Civic Center.
Lincoln Academy girls swim team were presented with the Maine Principals Association’s Sportsmanship Award at the State Class B meet on Feb. 17 at Bowdoin College in Brunswick.
Boothbay boys basketball team defeated Mt.Abram 59-54 in a South Class C quarter-final match-up on Feb. 17 at the Augusta Civic Center. The two teams were no strangers heading into the game, with the Seahawks capturing a three point win over the Roadrunners five games into their MVC season.
Trailing by 11 early in the fourth quarter, Medomak Valley boys basketball team clawed their way back to beat Skowhegan 50-46 in overtime in a North Class A Regional quarter-final match-up on Sat., Feb. 15 at the Augusta Civic Center.
Medomak Valley were crowned State Class B champions in the 4×800 relay on Sat., Feb. 15 at Bates College in Lewiston. Running a leg on the winning relay were Mackenzie Emerson, Serena Blasius, Olivia Parent and Alexis Parent.
Four Medomak Valley wrestlers placed at the State Class B championships, held Feb. 15 at Fryeburg Academy. Tyler Cox was crowned 170 pound champion. Erik Benner placed second at 195 pounds, Jakob Gess third at 220 pounds and Gavin Readinger fourth at 126 pounds.
On paper, Medomak Valley’s North Class A quarter-final game with Gardiner looked to go down to the wire, as the two teams split in close games during their KVAC season. The Lady Panthers came out flat, and the Tigers took full advantage to take a 13-2 lead at the end of one.
106.9 FRANK FM (WBQX, Thomaston) will broadcast several tournament games from the Augusta Civic Center, featuring schools in the Midcoast and Central Maine Area. FRANK’s radio coverage will include the Medomak Valley boys and girls, Cony boys, Gardiner girls, Erskine Academy girls, Boothbay boys and girls, Vinalhaven boys and girls and the North Haven girls.
Lincoln Academy senior Braxton Farrin was named KVAC Outstanding Male Swimmer at the KVAC Class B swim championships held at the Bath YMCA on Feb. 10. Farrin won both the 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle. He also swam a leg on the Eagles KVAC championship 200 free relay team, and their second place 200 medley relay team.
Boothbay girls basketball team finished their MVC season with a 16-2 record and are seeded second in South Class C. The Lady Seahawks take on the winner of Sacopee and Kents Hill on Tues., Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.

Medomak Valley cheerleaders placed third at the State Class B cheering championships, held at the Augusta Civic Center on Feb. 8. Hermon won their fourth straight title and ninth in the past 10 years.
Wiscasset cheerleaders competed at the State Class D cheering championships on Sat., Feb. 8 at the Augusta Civic Center.
Medomak Valley boys basketball team wrapped up their KVAC season with a 54-50 win over Messalonskee on Feb. 8 on the road.
