The Boothbay baseball team shut out Spruce Mountain 4-0 on Tuesday, May 26 in Boothbay. The Seahawks improved to 2-10 with the win and moved closer to locking up a Class D South playoff spot with four games remaining. Boothbay sits in ninth place in the division, less than one point behind Greenville (3-7) in the Heal Point Standings. The top eight teams will make the playoffs.

The Medomak boys tennis team beat Lincoln Academy 3-2 in a Class B South battle on Thursday, May 21 in Waldoboro.

Nearly 250 locals and visitors kicked off Memorial Day weekend with a speedy celebration of the Damariscotta Mills alewives during the Run with the Alewives 5K on Saturday, May 23. Matthew Baron, of Somerville, Mass., won the race in a time of 16:21.

Eleven Medomak Valley High School athletes signed collegiate letters of intent or commitment during a ceremony on Tuesday, May 26.

The Lincoln County Cardinals are off and running in their second year of action in the Pine Tree League. The team is looking to build off an inaugural season in which the squad compiled a 10-8 record and advanced to the playoff quarterfinals. The Cardinals beat the Winthrop Red Sox 3-1 in their season opener on Sunday, May 17 in Wiscasset.

The Lincoln Academy girls tennis team shut out Gardiner 5-0 on Tuesday, May 19 in Newcastle. Lincoln Academy first singles player Ruby Glenn won three matches before losing in the quarterfinals of the girls state championship singles tournament at Bate College in Lewiston on Saturday, May 16.

The Lincoln Academy boys tennis team lost to MCI 3-2 on Tuesday, May 19 in Newcastle. The only two losses this season for the Eagles (8 2) have been dealt by the Huskies.

The Lincoln Academy boys lacrosse team beat MCI/Nokomis 14-1 on Friday, May 15 in Newcastle.

The Medomak softball team’s undefeated season came to a halt in dramatic fashion in a 17-16 loss to Gardiner on Monday, May 18 in Gardiner. Two of the best softball teams in the state traded leads throughout the first four innings of the high scoring affair before the Tigers were able to hold off the Panthers in the final three innings.

The Midcoast Maine IEA team placed 13th at the IEA Hunt Seat and Dressage National Finals held April 23-26 at the National Equestrian Center in Lake St. Louis, Mo. Eighteen of the top teams from around the country competed at the event. It was the first time that the Midcoast Maine IEA team had qualified for the sport’s most prestigious tournament.

The Lincoln Academy boys tennis team beat Waterville 5-0 on Tuesday, May 12 in Newcastle. The Eagles improved to 8-1 on the season and sit in the top spot in the Class B South Heal Point Standings. Waterville fell to 5-3 in Class B North.

The Lincoln Academy girls tennis team lost to Cony on Monday, May 11 in Augusta. It was the first loss of the season for LA. The Eagles won a battle lasting over three hours against Waterville on Wednesday, May 6 in Newcastle.

Lincoln Academy track teams competed in back-to-back meets on Friday, May 8 at Mt. Ararat and Saturday May 9 at Waterville. Karen Higgins broke her own school record in the 1600m run at the Waterville Invitational in a time of 5:21.63.
