Robert Hazard Edwards died at home on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025. An American citizen, Rob was born in London and raised in Middletown, Ohio. His father worked for a steel company based in Ohio and met his mother in England. They moved to the U.S. during the war in 1940. He attended public schools in Ohio, was an Eagle Scout, and finished high school at Deerfield Academy. He received an A.B. in English from Princeton University and read law at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, where he received a B.A. in 1959 and an M.A. in 1977. In 1961, Rob earned an LL.B. from Harvard University and was admitted to the federal bar.

A Lobster Trap Tree Goes Up At The Waldo
On Saturday, Nov. 29 Waldoboro fisherman Clint Collamore pulled up in front of The Waldo Theatre with more than a few dozen lobster traps on the back of his truck. Three hours later, Waldo board member Barbara Boardman installed the lights, unrolling wheels of them that were draped and threaded through the traps.

REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR
Not too long ago, there were two days in December that were widely regarded by Americans, Dec. 25, of course, Christmas; and Dec. 7, Pearl Harbor Day. Christmas gets bigger and louder and longer every year. In contrast, the day to remember Pearl Harbor seems to get smaller and smaller as it recedes into the past, and not heralded as it was in the past.

Brian Merrill Bailey, 62, of Jefferson, passed away at his home on the evening of Nov. 25, 2025 from complications of cancer. Born in Damariscotta on Sept. 28, 1963, he was the son of Merrill and Shirley (Atkinson) Bailey.
Lorraine Eyring (Sosto) Gonyea
Lorraine “Lori” Eyring (Sosto) Gonyea passed away peacefully on Dec. 1, 2025. Lori was born in Baltimore, Md. in 1933. She was educated at Notre Dame of Maryland school and college and worked as a medical secretary at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore where she met the love of her life, Robert J. Gonyea, M.D. In 1961, Lori and Dr. Gonyea wedded and stayed happily married for 65 years. They raised two daughters, Karen Elizabeth McInnis, of Hingham, Mass., and Lisa Marie Ouellette, of Bangor.

Monica P. Moore (née Penney) passed away peacefully on Nov. 27, 2025, in Edgecomb, at the age of 96. Born on Nov. 17, 1929, Monica was the last surviving child of Arthur and Margaret Delorey Penney. She grew up in a large family alongside her brothers Russell, Arthur, and Charles Penney, and her sisters Marjorie Martin, Irene Vinal, Betty Henderson, and Peggy Chadwick.

After a wonderful, long life, Janet B. Reilly, of New Harbor, passed away on Nov. 28, 2025, at 95 years of age. Janet was born on Dec. 12, 1929, in Oceanside, N.Y. to Frank and Hope Bannister, and was raised in Rockville Centre, Long Island. She spent her summers in Southwest Harbor, where her family had resided for generations.
