Last week, Piper Pavelich, one of the reporters who works tirelessly to bring you the news each week, bid her farewell. Her departure is bittersweet. We wish her well with her future personal and professional life, but The Lincoln County News family is losing a wonderful young journalist.
Oscar E. Cronk Jr. June 12, 1930 - May 21, 2025
Oscar E. Cronk Jr., 94, of Gardiner Road, Wiscasset, died Tuesday, May 21, 2025 at Midcoast Hospital in Brunswick. He was born in Haynesville on June 12, 1930, son of Oscar E. and Susie P. (Easler) Cronk Sr. The family started their lives in Aroostook County, later moving to Bucksport, then Newcastle and to Wiscasset in 1942 when Oscar was 12. After school he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1948-1950. Oscar married Edith “Edie” A. Pickering on Sept. 3, 1960.
Catherine Ellen Dodge Gilbert
With deep love and sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Nana, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Catherine Ellen Dodge Gilbert, “Kay,” gained her angel wings at her home in Gardiner. She was so happy to be back near her cherished cousins, with whom she grew up spending summers on Lake Cobbosseecontee and more recently, a standing Wednesday morning breakfast at Dave’s Diner.
Gordon E. Blank Sept. 28, 1942 - June 14, 2025
Gordon E. Blank, fondly known as “Bugz,” passed away peacefully at home on June 14, 2025 surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with health issues. He was 82 years old. Born on Sept. 28, 1942 in Lynn, Mass., he was the son of Gordon and Rita (Hayes) Blank. Gordon lived a life rooted in the communities of Jefferson, Pemaquid, and New Harbor.

Elizabeth T. (Fitzpatrick) Gerding, 87, of Biddeford and formerly Newcastle, died on June 16, 2025 after filling the world with love, laughter, and exuberance. Elizabeth “Betty” valued family above all, and was cherished by many friends, neighbors, and casual acquaintances alike.
Donald E. Mank Sept. 20, 1937 - June 17, 2025
Donald E. Mank, 87, of Nobleboro, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Sussman House in Rockport after a brief period of declining health. Donald was blessed to hold many cherished roles in life, as a friend, brother, father, and grandfather.
‘Moose’ AKA Donald N. Carlson Sept. 18, 1958 - June 15, 2025
“Moose” Carlson, aka Donald N. Carlson, 66, passed away at the Breakwater Commons in Rockland on June 15, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Waldoboro on Sept. 18, 1958 to parents Francis “Sunset” and Dorothy (Grover) Carlson, Moose grew up in Waldoboro and attended local schools, graduating from Medomak Valley High School.
