Fourth grade students at Wiscasset Elementary School recently harvested basil from the hydroponic garden, provided by a Maine Agriculture in the Classroom grant. The students planted the basil when school began in September and have been taking notes in their science journals as they watched the growth occur.

These last few months seem to have dragged on longer than usual. While there are plenty of factors this feeling could be attributed to, we’re choosing to believe it’s because we’ve had to spend an increasing amount of time driving around Damariscotta looking for parking.

A celebration of life for Charlotte Amalie Peterson, who passed away on Oct. 18, will be held at The Seagull Shop on Pemaquid Point, on Sunday, Nov. 17, from noon until sunset. Family and friends are invited to gather beginning at noon for food and music. The remembrance service will begin at 2 p.m. The music and celebration will continue throughout the afternoon, culminating with the viewing of the meteor shower at dusk.
