Nobleboro History Revisited Some More Special Names of Nobleboro Ancestors

Surely an interesting name for a lady was that of “Silence” – Silence Oliver. We do not know her maiden name, but her husband, Jonathan Oliver Sr. was an early settler on East Neck, and served in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted on Dec. 31, 1765, and served until January 1777, when he was discharged at Peak’s Hill, N.Y. He served in Reed’s Co., Bailey’s Massachusetts Continental Line. He lived until 1837, to age 87, and is buried in the Oliver cemetery near the junction of East Neck Road and Vannah (formerly Butter and Egg) Road, on the old Oliver homestead.

Charles W. Acker died at home on Jan. 7, 2022 after a period of declining health. Chuck was a renaissance man who possessed myriad and diverse talents; he was a farmer and builder, a psychologist and poet, a scholar and teacher.

Online Training for Volunteer Advocates

The Maine court-appointed special advocates program is holding its spring training for volunteer advocates on March 8-11. This four-day, online training is free and is designed to prepare attendees for certification as volunteer guardians ad litem in the Maine District Courts.

Micheal A. Leighton, 52, passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2022, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with his wife, Heidi, by his side. He was born May 23, 1969, in Boothbay Harbor to Peter Leighton and Juanita Brewer Kristoff. Micheal grew up in Boothbay and graduated from Boothbay Region High School in the Class of 1987.

Surrounded by his loving wife of 72 years, and his three children, Wallace Prock died at home on the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022. How fitting that he was with them as he serenely left this world, a life well-lived and loved, centered around home and family.
