Inanna, Sisters in Rhythm, will fill Broad Bay Congregational Church with the sounds of African drums and chanting in a concert for all ages at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25.

The towns of Boothbay Harbor, Southport, and Boothbay will once again sponsor five free family movies for everyone in the community. This year, Harbor Theater published a survey to encourage families to select the movies they would like to see during each holiday period. The respondents who helped choose which movies to show.

Spain’s internationally acclaimed piper and musician Carlos Núñez is making a rare U.S. appearance this fall, with concerts scheduled in New York City and the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor. It has been several years since Núñez last toured the northeast United States.

The fall season at the historic Opera House at Boothbay Harbor includes the arrival of “The Stoneheads,” more often known to Midcoast fans as The Boneheads. On Friday, Oct. 11, the band brings an evening of classic Rolling Stones music to the stage.

The Merry Barn Literacy and Arts Center in Edgecomb will close its doors on Dec. 31. For the last five years, The Merry Barn has been a space where creativity and community have flourished. Through writing, music, visual arts, theater, and movement, community members have expressed themselves and connected with others.

Every Tuesday from 2-3 p.m. there are sounds of singing and laughter coming from the social room at The Lincoln Home in Newcastle. The group making all that music and fun is Classic Harmony.

The paintings of Barbara Applegate and Sally Loughridge, two member artists at the Pemaquid Art Gallery, have strong impact on the viewer, although in very different styles. The two painters are both prolific and accomplished, creating scenes of the Maine coast where color and composition are vital.

On Thursday, Sept. 26, the Lincoln Theater in Damariscotta will present the local premiere of “Trusted Sources,” a new documentary on finding trustworthy news in a sea of deception, by filmmaker Don Colacino.
