Dr. K. Frank Austen of Wellesley, Mass., and Damariscotta, a noted physician-scientist in immunology/allergy and rheumatology for six decades at Harvard Medical School (HMS), died at his home in Maine on June 23, 2023, at the age of 95.

Carolyn May Pitcher, 78, of Brooksville, Fla., passed away June 22, 2023, with her husband and best friend by her side. She was born to the late Lloyd Jones and Shirley Jones on Jan. 24, 1945, in Taunton, Mass.

Susan J. Renelt, 85, of Bremen, passed away at the Sussman House in Rockport on the morning of June 21, 2023. Sue, the eldest daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Berger) Jones, was born on June 12, 1938 in Rochester, N.Y.

Dorothy “Dot” Emma Sears, 97, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the Knox Center for Long Term Care in Rockland.

John R. Hilton, 82, of Newcastle, passed away on June 17, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Damariscotta on Dec. 17, 1940, to John H. Hilton and Irma Chase, John grew up in Newcastle.

A celebration of life memorial will be held for Bobbie Joyce Eaton on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Long Funeral Home in Camden. Bobbie was born on July 12, 1937 in her Cherokee grandfather’s log cabin, which he had built on his Cherokee allotment in a rural area near Stilwell, Okla. Bobbie’s parents were Walter Chitwood and Helen Beanstick Chitwood.

Leland Leroy Wallace, 84, died June 11 at LincolnHealth’s Miles Campus in Damariscotta. He was born April 13, 1939 in Damariscotta to Eben Wallace and Edith Winchenbach Wallace. Leland grew up in Waldoboro and graduated from Waldoboro High School.

Chester “Gene” Chubbuck, of Edgecomb, died May 25, 2023 from complications of dementia after a stay at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough.
